AFTERBUZZ TV – AfterBuzz TV’s Concert Experience edition, is a long form interview series featuring musicians and their upcoming music as well as their thoughts, passions and journeys. In this episode host James Lott Jr. interviews Tina Alexis Allen.

Tina Alexis Allen (GLAAD Award Nominee), has played a wide range of characters in theatre, film and television. From a powerhouse executive to housewife to transsexual, Tina has even played a man. Famed acting coach, Susan Batson has described her as “a true chameleon – capable of playing anything.” Tina is heading Off-Broadway with her compelling and daring solo show, Secrets of a Holy Father, where she portrays the double life of her devoutly Catholic father. Secrets of a Holy Father had a workshop run at The Cherry Lane theatre in New York City.

Tina’s Off-Broadway roles include Lydia in James McManus’ Underground at The Beckett Theatre and Susan in the premiere of Charles Mee’s Fire Island where the New York Times praised her work, “Ms. Allen is an actor of great conviction.” Other theater roles include: Frances in The Breakup Notebook (where she was nominated for a GLAAD Award along side Jane Lynch) and Rosaura in The Juvenal Players at The Kitchen. In Los Angeles, Tina wrote and performed her 13 character one woman show, Irresistible, and was hailed by critics. “Her character work rivals that of Lily Tomlin.” (In Magazine). Irresistible was also accepted to the New York Fringe Festival.

While acting opposite Teri Garr, Tina made her film directing debut with the comedy, God Out the Window. Other film roles include the Slamdance audience favorite, Phantom Pain, in which she starred and produced. Her screenplay, “Bittersweet,” was a finalist for the Sundance Writer’s Lab and she is developing a television script based on her one person show, Secrets of a Holy Father.

Tina can be seen as “Dr. Mills” on The Onion News television series for IFC. Her upcoming films include: Bushwick, Last Rite and For Molly.
