Three Reasons Matt James’ Season of ‘The Bachelor’ Will Be Unlike Any Before

Matt James’ season of ‘The Bachelor’ is officially underway and we have the reasons why it will be unlike any of the previous ones!

It’s Instagram official: Matt James is ready for romance! He’s officially going off the social media grid to film his season of The Bachelor, according to a since-deleted Instagram story he shared.

“See y’all in a few months,” he wrote on his story.

The 28-year-old real estate broker also gave some shoutouts to The Bachelor franchise stars Tyler Cameron and Hannah Brown.

“@tylerjcameron3 what a crazy 6 months, I love you brother, wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for you and your mama,” he captioned a photo with Cameron. “Oh & I’ll be back, with a plus one.”

“Last but CERTAINLY not least.. Happy (early) Birthday Breezyy @hannahbrown,” he wrote to Brown.

Though Clare Crawley’s soon-to-premiere dramatic season of The Bachelorette has been getting most of the buzz in Bachelor Nation, James’ season is certain to be unlike any season we’ve seen before, either. Here’s why:

It’s not filming in California.

The one semblance of normal we can expect from Crawley’s upcoming season is a tropical filming location in sunny California, but that’s not going to be the case for James. ABC is switching it up and filming The Bachelor on the East Coast, opting for Pennsylvania.

James’ season will film at the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort, according to reality television expert Reality Steve. James seemingly confirmed this in his since-deleted Instagram post which he tagged with the resort as his location. At least this means we can expect some one-on-ones set in pretty fall foliage–how romantic!

There won’t be any traveling.

Let’s hope the cast and crew don’t mind the cold, because they won’t be leaving the Northeast anytime soon. Like Crawley’s season, the show won’t be filming dates around the country or overseas because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Nemacolin is booked from mid-September until November 26, which means The Bachelor team will experience the last bit of summer, fall and full-blown winter in Pennsylvania. We can’t wait to track the fall and winter fashion!

The Bachelor has never been on The Bachelor franchise before.

In typical The Bachelor production workflow, a show lead is chosen from the pool of contestants from the previous season. But as we’ve seen unfold over the past few months, these upcoming Bachelor-in-Quarantine seasons will be anything but typical.

Instead of pulling a Bachelor from the previous The Bachelorette season, which would have been Hannah Brown’s season, James was selected from the cast of suitors set to appear on Crawley’s upcoming season. While he won’t be an entirely fresh face to Bachelor Nation due to his friendships with both Brown and Tyler Cameron, he’ll still be experiencing the process for the first time which may impact his decision-making.

James’ season of The Bachelor is set to premiere on ABC in Jan. 2021.
