The Story Of The Warriors Dynasty!

The Golden State Warriors dynasty is a story of one of the best teams in recent history! With the potential of this being the last season some of these amazing players will be together, we’re detailing the wild ride it’s been.

In 2009, with the eighth pick of the NBA draft, the Warriors acquired Stephen Curry from Davidson, the best decision they would make in the history of their franchise. Two years later with the eleventh pick they would make the second best pick in franchise history by acquiring Klay Thompson. Finally, the year after that they would complete their core roster of stars by acquiring Draymon Green with the 35th pick of the 2012 draft.

Now that they had all the main tools they needed, they made their first playoff run with the new squad in 2013, but they eventually lost in the semifinals to the Spurs. In 2014 they made it to the playoffs again, but they lost the first round. The Warriors had nothing to show for their efforts so far, but that all changed in 2015, when the modern dynasty was born. In the 2014-2015 season the Warriors finished first overall, and won the NBA Championship. Steph Curry won the MVP that season, Klay Thompson set the NBA record for points in a quarter, and the team had the best record in franchise history with 67 wins.

This was only the beginning, the next year the Warriors broke the all time NBA record for most wins with 73 wins. Steph Curry made 402 three pointers in the season, which had never even been close to being achieved. In addition Curry had the highest FG percentage and three point percentage ever for a player who averaged 30 ppg. The team went to their second straight finals, but lost to the Cleveland Caveliers in a huge upset and tragic end to a fantasy season.

In the 2016-17 season, one of the best players in recent history, Kevin Durant, joined the Warriors, making them one of the biggest super teams in NBA history. The Warriors swept every team leading into the finals, and almost had a perfect postseason record of 15-1. They won the NBA Championship, then went back and swept the Cavs to win to repeat as Champions in the 2017-18 season. The next year the Warriors went to the NBA finals again, but lost to the Raptors. Warriors went to the finals five straight years from 2014-15 to 2018-19, they won three of their five appearances. Kevin Durant left the team after the loss to the Raptors and the Warriors dynasty was thought to be over.

The Warriors went from the best team in basketball to 15th in the West, the next season. They lost Klay Thompson to an injury and eventually lost Green for a few, and Curry was injured as well. The next season was a bit better, but Curry handled the scoring load on his own with no Thompson, he averaged 32 points per game, but no playoff success came from it. The next year, the Warriors acquired Andrew Wiggins (all-star) and developed their young talent in Poole and Kuminga. In the 2021-22 season, after two years of getting the squad back into championship condition, the Warriors won another NBA Championship. They proved everyone wrong and made it apparent that the dynasty was not over. This year they look to repeat as champions and prove yet again that they are not done being the best in basketball.
