On this weeks episode of Hulu’s original The Great – SEASON 1 – EPISODE 4 – Moscow Mule – Catherine becomes increasingly enthralled with Leo; taking her attention away from her royal duties as well as her well organized coup. The patriarch of the church has died and a new one must be named in a matter of days. Peter is resistant to pick a new patriarch and in avoidance, selects Archie to have a vision from God on command. Archie takes mushrooms in hopes of a vision, and retreats to the forests. Catherine sees him in the forest and advises him to choose himself as the new Patriarch. He mistakes her as an angel sent by God and plunges headfirst into the role of patriarch. Luckily, Peter accepts the idea and a new patriarch is names, Archie. A nasty rumor has been spread among the ladies of the court about Catherine that encroaches upon her reputation as empress. A plan for peace ensues which result in a nasty tea dance resulting in a bloody nosed Catherine. She reaches out for advice from Peters Aunt who explains the rules of authority and the position as empress. To walk with the nobility and confidence as an empress of Russia, Catherine must prove her worthiness by striking her most trusted friend and handmaid, Marial.
