The Diplomat Season 3 Premieres October 16

Netflix drops the first teaser for The Diplomat season 3, revealing Keri Russell, Allison Janney and the cast facing political chaos after season 2’s explosive finale.

Netflix has released the first teaser for The Diplomat Season 3, confirming the acclaimed political drama will return on October 16, 2025. The new footage promises fallout, shifting alliances, and explosive political consequences in the wake of Season 2’s shocking ending.

The teaser shows tensions rising on both sides of the Atlantic as Ambassador Kate Wyler, played by Keri Russell, finds herself trapped in the aftermath of accusations, betrayal, and an unexpected power shift at the highest levels of government. Alongside Russell, Allison Janney, Rufus Sewell, and Bradley Whitford return to navigate the chaos within the White House and beyond.

Speaking to Tudum.com, creator, showrunner, and executive producer Debora Cahn teased what’s ahead: “Kate and Hal are watching this tidal wave crest over Grace Penn and it’s about to crash through their whole world.”

Season 3 picks up immediately after the game-changing finale. Kate has accused Vice President Grace Penn (Janney) of orchestrating a terrorist plot and openly admitted she’s after the VP’s job. But the stakes are even higher now—the President is dead, Hal (Sewell) may have inadvertently caused it, and Grace Penn has become the leader of the free world.

While Hal ramps up his campaign to secure Kate the vice presidency, she finds herself in a role she never wanted, with unexpected freedoms and dangerous new complications. That includes her increasingly complex friendship with Foreign Secretary Austin Dennison (David Gyasi) and a surprising bond with First Gentleman Todd Penn (Whitford).

Season 3 of The Diplomat will feature eight one-hour episodes. Alongside Russell, Sewell, Gyasi, Ali Ahn, Rory Kinnear, and Ato Essandoh, the series also stars Michael McKean, Nana Mensah, and Miguel Sandoval. Guest stars this season include Allison Janney and Bradley Whitford.

Behind the camera, Cahn continues to lead the series as creator, showrunner, and executive producer. Additional executive producers include Janice Williams, Keri Russell, Alex Graves, Peter Noah, and Eli Attie.

With political intrigue, personal betrayals, and international stakes higher than ever, The Diplomat Season 3 looks set to be its most intense chapter yet. Fans can stream the new season beginning October 16, only on Netflix.
