As things heat up for the 2020 election scores of celebs have been making their voices heard. Dubbed one of the most crucial elections in American history even those who have previously remained silent are encouraging fans to vote. One of the most active in rallying support for the Democratic party is Taylor Swift.

“I will proudly vote for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in this year’s presidential election. Under their leadership, I believe America has a chance to start the healing process it so desperately needs.” Swift told V Magazine in the ‘Thought Leaders Issue.’

This is the first time Taylor Swift has endorsed a candidate in a U.S. Presidential election. Swift was famous for keeping quiet about her politics until 2018 midterms when she endorsed two Democratic candidates running in the state of Tennessee. Taylor’s personal struggle with speaking out was highlighted in her Netflix documentary ‘Miss Americana.’ Despite fears that it would divide her fanbase Taylor doubled down saying, “it’s basic human rights and it’s right and wrong.”

Since 2018, Taylor has not backed down on her promise to be more political. She has actively used her Twitter account to speak up about issues like LGBTQ+ or Black Lives Matter. She called for Confederate statues to be taken down in Tennessee saying she wants “ALL Tennesseans and visitors to feel safe.”

In an unprecedented move, she even called out the President of the United States, Donald Trump for inflammatory tweets. The President and Swift have the exact same amount of Twitter followers at 87.2 million. Swift ended the tweet vowing to assist in voting him out this upcoming election.

After announcing her support of the Biden/Harris ticket in 2020 Taylor posted an adorable photo of her baking cookies for the occasion. Remember, it’s not a proper Taylor Swift announcement without some sweet treats to accompany it. Just last year, Katy Perry raved over Taylor’s baking skills when she received a peace offering from Taylor.

“The cookies were incredible,” Perry said in an interview with SiriusXM’s Hits 1 in Hollywood. “They were soft. I couldn’t believe they weren’t store-bought. She just makes them on a whim, and she’s such a good baker.”

Taylor has actively encouraged fans to get out and vote early! Have you voted or registered yet?
