TikTok trends are created every day and there were so many great ones in the year 2021! Let’s see which ones really stuck with us and why!
Twinnem
This trend was to the song “Twinnem by Coi Leray”, and you would do it with someone who you spend practically all of your time with and tell everything to. Twinnem in other words is your day one, your best friend. This was all over our for you page in 2021 as people would switch poses on the first two beats, most of them being directly next to each other, and/or making a heart with their hands together. One person would dance while the other hypes them up, the song then goes into the lyrics “killin’ em” which they do an interpretation of, and then they stand by each other’s sides and act out “no” because the lyrics then say “no new friends”.

Impossible booty
Jae.moves on TikTok choreographed a fun, exciting dance to T-Pain’s “Booty” song (sped up version). This dance was something that you could just quickly do and the serotonin in your body would just burst with happiness. The trend was all over everyone’s for you page and people are still doing this dance now in 2022!

Sneaky Link
@zoebaptiostee and @cerise_x3 on TikTok choreographed a dance to “Sneaky Link”. In this song, there are so many beats and lyrics to catch that are so danceable. The first version got so much love that they even made an additional dance to further continue it, and from a dancer’s point of view– the musicality of these dancers is perfection!

The Killer is Escaping
In American Horror Stories, the audio of the character Cordelia Goode saying “Help! He’s escaping! The killer is escaping! Help me!” blew up all over TikTok. This audio became so popular because fans found it hilarious – one fan even commented on a TikTok of the scene “THIS WASNT THAT FUNNY WHEN I WATCHED IT”. It became even funnier once people started to mimic the audio. Rather than using the audio in the scary dramatic way it was originally intended – people used happy, playful movements and expressions that were the complete opposite. Even actress Sarah Paulson spoke on Instagram live about how someone put music in the background of her screaming this line in the show, and even celebrities such as Lizzo and Billie Eilish are posting to it.

We Outsideeeee
This audio was named “All Summer 2021” by LEILAHFLO on TikTok. It started with the song “Big Gangsta” by Kevin Gates (which was previously another trend), and switched to a phone ringing and then saying “we outsideeee”. This audio was mostly used for people who started the first half of the TikTok home, or in their normal day to day life, and transitions to them being somewhere on vacation or away with friends, family, etc.

Mo Money Mo Problems
The iconic song by The Notorious B.I.G became popular once again but on TikTok. I mean– it never stopped being popular, but now the younger generation got to have a little bit of fun with it too! People had their moms, boyfriends, grandparents, dads, and all of the above doing this trend. It’s vibey, it’s nostalgic, and it’s definitely entertaining!

The audio fro this trend comes from the CW show Crazy Ex Girlfriend. It starts with singing that this person has so many friends and it’s time to meet them! As the TikTok continues, the roll call of “friends” stops after two people. This is ironically funny because we all have those people in our life who we can actually trust and hang out with without needing to exert energy.

This audio is a remix of the song “Bananza” by Akon. People all over the world were doing this trend where you would belly dance, and move your hips to the beats of the music. It is fun to do, fun to watch, and fun to listen to!

Dreya Mac made this dance to her and FelixThe1st song “Own Brand Freestyle (feat. Finch Fetti)”. The dance goes along with the lyrics, and she had everyone trying the trend. Her streams on the song went up, her popularity skyrocketed, and she even captioned one of her TikTok posts “We performed this song during my set in Belgium last night and YOU GUYS WERE SINGING UR HEARTS OUT…” This was a big success for Dreys, and the public got a great song, dance, and trend to forever love.

This Spanish song had us all going crazy and dancing around to it! Curazao is sung by El Alfa, Farruko, and Chael Produciendo. This trend was yet another enjoyable TikTok to get up and dance!

@thereallittlelad on TikTok sings “Berries and cream, berries and cream, I’m a little lad who loves berries and cream”, and no matter what side of TikTok you’re on, this sound was on your for you page at one point. Another person posted the audio and wrote “please make great art with this sound, it’s what we all need”. And it did indeed make great art, as everyone went through the berries and cream phase.
