Severance Tops 2025 TCA Awards With Five Nominations

Apple TV+’s Severance leads the 2025 Television Critics Association nominations, with Adolescence, The Studio, and Hacks close behind as top contenders.

The Television Critics Association has announced its 2025 nominations, and Severance is leading the charge. The acclaimed Apple TV+ drama scored five nominations, the most of any series, as revealed by the TCA this morning.

Following closely behind with four nominations each are Netflix’s Adolescence, HBO Max’s Hacks and The Pitt, and another Apple TV+ entry, The Studio. All five series earned coveted spots in the Program of the Year category, alongside Disney+’s Andor, HBO’s The Rehearsal, and The White Lotus.

Severance picked up three acting nominations for Adam Scott, Britt Lower, and Tramell Tillman, as well as nods for Outstanding Achievement in Drama and Program of the Year.

Hacks and Adolescence also saw individual recognition for their cast. Hacks stars Hannah Einbinder and Jean Smart were both nominated in comedy, while Adolescence actors Owen Cooper and Stephen Graham scored nods in drama.

Meanwhile, AMC’s Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire earned two nominations, including one for Jacob Anderson in Individual Achievement in Drama. FX’s The Bear, a past TCA darling, landed just one nomination this year, for Liza Colón-Zayas.

There was some notable category reshuffling when compared to the upcoming Emmys: Agatha All Along is considered a limited series by the TCA, while FX’s Dying for Sex landed in the comedy category — the opposite of their Emmy placements.

Newcomers like English Teacher (FX), Nobody Wants This (Netflix), and Matlock (CBS) made strong showings, with multiple nominations. HBO Max’s The Pitt and Apple TV+’s The Studio were also prominent in the Outstanding New Program category.

TCA President Andy Dehnart, founder of reality blurred, said, “With these nominations, we honor the art of television and the artists who create it. Our members independently selected these nominees, having championed these shows in their writing, reporting, and criticism throughout the past year.”

The TCA Awards, which normally coincide with the association’s summer press tour, will not feature an in-person ceremony this year. Instead, winners will be announced virtually via the TCA’s social platforms later this summer. The Career Achievement and Heritage Award recipients are also set to be revealed in the coming weeks.

Nominees were chosen from shows airing between June 1, 2024, and May 31, 2025, across all major broadcast, cable, and streaming platforms.
