Selena Gomez’s New Makeup Line Rare Beauty

Selena Gomez’s new makeup line Rare Beauty gets reactions from Nikkie Tutorials, Alissa Ashley, PopSugar Fashion, and more.

Selena Gomez is making 2020 her year, from new music, to a new cooking show, to a makeup line. Yep, that’s right, Selena Gomez has a new beauty line!

Rare Beauty is not just a makeup line though — its mission is to raise $100 million over the next 10 years for mental health services. In addition, the beauty line also created the Rare Impact Fund and Rare Beauty Mental Health Council made up of expert advisors from leading universities, organizations, and companies focused on mental health. Another important note: one percent of all sales, as well as funds raised from partners, will be dedicated to the Rare Impact Fund.

Now onto the makeup.

This line is just starting out so it doesn’t have certain makeup products like bronzer or mascara, but nonetheless it does have lots of fun new products to try. We’re going to highlight (pun intended) some specific products, but first let’s do a little overview.

All the current makeup products are vegan, which is really cool. I also like how all the products are either cream or liquid, so the application will be smooth. While some might say it’s not very hygienic, especially if you share, I love the built in doe foot applicators in the blush and foundation that promote easy and precise use. Plus, the line also includes separate brushes available for purchase, if you’d prefer.

Liquid Touch Weightless Foundation

What is really cool about this foundation is that it already has over 40 different shades which makes it very accessible to everyone. It’s friendly to most skin types and is even sulfate free! Online, it says it is medium to full coverage. According to EWG, the foundation is on the low end of being a moderate safety hazard, scoring a four out of ten where ten is the most hazardous and one is the safest.

Perfect Strokes Matte Liquid Liner

While I’m not the biggest fan of eyeliner, this eyeliner is even making me want to try it myself! I love how it looks like a sharpie marker and seems really easy to apply. Not to mention the eyeliner is matte, waterproof, and sulfate free, which is always a plus! I also put this eyeliner to the test on EWG’s website and here are the results:

Lip Souffle Matte Cream Lipstick

From the bold colors to the lightweight product, this lipstick is everything! Each color has a matte finish and says it has nourishing hydration. I was able to input all the ingredients on EWG and the results were pretty promising.

All the products are in the $10-30 range which makes them affordable to the masses. The line is available at Sephora and on rarebeauty.com.
