Season Three Production For CW’s ‘Charmed’ Reboot Halted

The CW’s 2018 reboot of the hit series Charmed was renewed for a third season at the beginning of 2020. However, Deadline reported, the fantasy drama was halted after someone on the production team tested positive for COVID-19.

The Charmed reboot was created by Constance M. Burge and is filmed in Vancouver. The production was previously shut down a month ago when COVID test results for cast and crew took longer to arrive, a situation that impacted a number of shows filming in Vancouver. Other scripted series halted because of positive test results include CBS’s Young Sheldon and the CW’s All American.

The disruption has put the show on pause for the day, but the network is still following safety guidelines and doing contact tracing. Depending on what is discovered with the contact tracing, the reboot may get back to filming as soon as November 5th.

There has been prolonged tension and differences between the original stars of the series and the actresses in the reboot. The social media back and forth has primarily occurred between Sarah Jeffery (Maggie Vera) and OG’s of the original series Rose McGowan (Paige Matthews) and Holly Marie Combs (Piper Halliwell). Combs most recently took to Twitter saying she wants to settle the beef and explained the issue really came from a corporate level.

The show is produced under CBS Studios and is expected to premiere with a 25-episode plot on Jan 24, 2021, a year after it was originally renewed.
