Predictions for ‘True Detective: Night Country’ Episodes 5 & 6!

Fans were left feeling shocked, confused and terrified following episode 4 of ‘True Detective: Night Country’. Here are some predictions of what fans think will happen in the remaining two episodes.

**Spoilers Ahead**

True Detective: Night Country is the fourth season of the HBO anthology series for fans to crack the case. This time around, we’re placed in Ennis, Alaska, with low visibility and ice as far as the eye can see.

If this new environment wasn’t creepy enough, a group of scientists studying the origins of life in a remote research facility suddenly disappear! Tasked with finding them are Police Chief Danvers (Jodie Foster) and State Trooper Evangeline Navarro (Kali Reis) search the eerily frozen landscape to locate them.

During their search, they are led to the gruesome sight of a corpsicle of melded human beings, mysteriously huddled together in the ice. Unsure of how or why these scientists ended up away from their laboratory and frozen together, their investigation leads to a series of strange occurrences throughout Ennis.

Fans are already making their predictions of what will happen next. The preview trailer for episode 5 depicts growing tensions between Danvers and Navarro, as well as multiple delusion sequences from Navarro’s point of view.

Fans are predicting that Matthew McConaughey will be making a cameo appearance before the series finale. This theory is supported by Rose (Fiona Shaw) confirming that the undead man who led her to the frozen bodies is Travis Cohle, father to McConaughey’s Rust Cohle. Though the academy-award winning actor wasn’t confirmed to reprise his Season 1 role, we would love to see him come back and help our new favorite detectives!

Let’s address the one-eyed polar bear in the room, which many fans speculate to be a spiritual connection to Navarro and Danvers. The bear first appears to Navarro as a delusion, as she looks at the large animal in disbelief. Danvers also has a stuffed, plush polar bear matching the missing eye of its larger counterpart, conflicting fans on the bear’s role in the show.

Many fans have pointed out that Ennis’s tainted water supply could be responsible for the weird goings-on in town. We get brief glimpses of the water’s brown complexion whenever a faucet is turned on from a sink, hose or bathtub. What is in the town’s water that could cause mass delusions, or even murder? We don’t know, but it’s not good!

Bridging the miniseries to another beloved franchise, “Dungeons & Dragons,” many fans have noticed that the spirals seen in Night Country may be a subtle hint to Tharizdun; the god of Eternal Darkness, Decay, Entropy, Malign Knowledge, Insanity, and Cold. Stranger Things replicated many of the creature designs and concepts from the fantasy tabletop game, so is True Detective also a massive fan of the game? Fans are saying yes!
