Paramount+ Rebrands Premium Tier Without Showtime

Steaming network Paramount+ has removed Showtimes name from its premium tier while keeping Showtime programming intact and the pricing unchanged.

In the latest shift in the ever-evolving world of streaming, Paramount+ has officially dropped the “Showtime” name from its premium subscription tier. Now simply known as Paramount+ Premium, the change comes as the company aims to better reflect the growing range of content available across both its subscription levels.

Despite the name removal, Showtime programming remains fully available and highly visible on the platform. According to a statement shared on the streaming app Monday, the decision comes after Showtime content began appearing in the Essential (lower-priced) tier, making the branding distinction less relevant.

The rebrand does not affect pricing—Paramount+ Premium will remain at $12.99/month, while the Essential plan continues at $7.99/month.

Showtime programming remains an important part of Paramount+,” the streamer emphasized, “and is still prominently represented on the service!”

The decision echoes recent moves across the streaming industry. Just as Warner Bros. Discovery is adding “HBO” back into Max, and Disney integrates Hulu and ESPN+ into Disney+, Paramount is refining its offering to stay competitive and scale efficiently.

The rebrand also comes as Paramount Global navigates its pending Skydance Media merger and continues its transition away from siloed content hubs. The merger, when finalized, could reshape the media company’s future, especially as it pushes to grow beyond its 79 million global streaming subscribers reported in Q1 2025.

Previously, Showtime operated as its own standalone service until it was folded into Paramount+ in 2024, creating a content mix of mass-appeal CBS hits like Tracker and Matlock with prestige fare like Yellowjackets and Couples Therapy. Now, under the singular Paramount+ brand, the streamer is streamlining its message and offering to better match today’s all-in-one viewing experience.
