Netflix has released the first teaser for the third and final season of Squid Game, set to premiere June 27, as Gi-hun returns to end the games.
The games are back — and they’re more dangerous than ever. Today, Netflix officially dropped the teaser for the third and final season of Squid Game, offering fans a chilling first look at what’s to come. Mark your calendars: Season 3 premieres June 27, 2025, exclusively on Netflix.
As the most-watched show in Netflix history, Squid Game has left an undeniable mark on global pop culture. Since Season 2’s debut in December 2024, the Korean thriller continued its record-breaking streak, notching 192.6 million views in just three days and becoming the second most popular non-English series of all time—right behind its own Season 1. Season 2 also broke the record for most views during premiere week and now ranks as the third most-watched Netflix season ever.
The newly released teaser trailer sets the tone for a gripping final act. It opens with pink-suited guards carrying a black coffin box — the same kind used for fallen players — into a resting area. Curious and hesitant, players gather around and open it, revealing a surprise: Gi-hun (Player 456), very much alive, waking up once again inside the twisted world of the games.
A massive gumball machine looms overhead, dispensing red and blue balls — new symbols of fate that hint at the deadly challenges to come. Familiar faces resurface, including The Front Man, now exposed as a double agent, and detective Hwang Jun-ho. Also returning are players Myung-gi (Player 333), Dae-ho (Player 388), Hyun-ju (Player 120), Yong-sik (Player 007), Geum-ja (Player 149), Jun-hee (Player 222), Min-su (Player 125), Nam-gyu (Player 124), and pink guard No-eul.
As the teaser builds, it ends with a haunting final sound: the mysterious cry of a baby.
Season 3 picks up from Season 2’s devastating cliffhanger. Gi-hun is still reeling from the loss of his closest friend, Jung-bae (Player 390), and is more determined than ever to take the games down for good. But his journey is only getting harder. The Front Man, who had infiltrated the rebellion disguised as Player 001, is ready to make his next move — and the remaining players will be pushed to the brink as their choices carry even more severe consequences.
In the newly released teaser art, Gi-hun stands alone amid a sea of black boxes tied in pink ribbons, a symbol of both death and the twisted elegance of the game’s mechanics. His upward gaze reflects the central question of the final season: can humanity survive in a system built on cruelty?
Directed and written once again by creator Hwang Dong-hyuk, Season 3 promises to deliver an emotional and explosive end to the global phenomenon. The series has already made Emmy history and even inspired a real-life competition series, Squid Game: The Challenge, and an immersive touring experience.
As the world waits for the June 27 premiere, one thing is certain — this final chapter will be one to remember.
