AFTERBUZZ TV – AfterBuzz TV’s Mini Spotlight edition, is a short form interview series featuring actors & artists discussing their roles and shows as well as their thoughts, passions and journeys. In this episode host Amy Cassandra interviews Mike C. Manning.
Mike Manning is an actor and producer that can currently be seen as ‘Adam’, opposite David A.R. White, John Corbett and Shane Harper in God’s Not Dead: A Light In Darkness, in theaters now. God’s Not Dead was produced by faith and family film studio, Pure Flix, and is an inspirational drama that centers on Pastor Dave (David A.R. White) and the unimaginable tragedy he endures when his church, located on the grounds of the local university, is burned down.
Up next for Manning is the film Ice the Movie, an inspirational sports drama premiering on Amazon later this month. Manning also produced Lost in America, a documentary about homeless youth, starring Rosario Dawson, Halle Berry, Jewel, Jon Bon Jovi and Sanaa Lathan. Lost in America will premiere at various film festivals around the country in May.
Manning can also be seen in the 2018 SXSW film Jinn (which he also executive produced). Jinn premiered to great reviews at the festival and follows the story of a 17-year-old black girl and the journey she takes after her mother, a local weather woman, converts to Islam.
Describing why he gravitates towards production, Manning explains: “I produce film as a form of “creative activism,” using cinema to raise awareness about certain social issues and to create conversations about ways of being and thinking to which people might otherwise never be exposed.” In his free time, Manning enjoys extreme sports, volunteering, and playing music.
