Netflix renews Leanne Morgan’s comedy series Leanne for a second season as the comedian also prepares to debut her new stand-up special.
Netflix is keeping the laughs coming—Leanne has officially been renewed for a second season. The multi-cam comedy starring Leanne Morgan premiered to strong reviews and quickly landed a spot on Netflix’s Global Top 10, cementing its place as one of the streamer’s standout new sitcoms.
Morgan, who co-created, executive produces, and headlines the series, shared her excitement with Tudum.com, saying, “We’re coming back for a second season! I am so grateful to all the writers, producers, Netflix, WB, our amazing cast and especially for all the fans of the show. Y’all did this for us and we can’t wait to be back!”
Co-creator and executive producer Chuck Lorre also praised Morgan and the team, adding, “Much thanks and gratitude to Netflix for this amazing opportunity. Congrats to Leanne and the entire cast and crew. This has been an incredible journey that began with a visit to Knoxville, Tennessee. Leanne Morgan is the whole package. A comedic genius, a warm, loving human being, and an absolute joy to work with.”
The renewal comes just as Morgan readies her next big project: her new Netflix stand-up special, Unspeakable Things, which premieres globally on November 4, 2025. The hour-long performance follows her 2023 breakout I’m Every Woman, which became Netflix’s most-viewed comedy special by a woman since early 2023. Unspeakable Things marks the first of two new specials in her ongoing deal with the streamer.
Leanne tells the story of Morgan’s character, whose life takes a sharp turn after her husband of 33 years leaves her for another woman. With the support of her family—including her spirited sister Carol (played by Kristen Johnston)—she learns to navigate heartbreak with humor and resilience. The series blends heart and comedy to prove it’s never too late to rewrite your story.
Season 1’s ensemble cast includes Kristen Johnston, Celia Weston, Blake Clark, Ryan Stiles, Graham Rogers, and Hannah Pilkes, alongside Morgan. The show was co-created by Susan McMartin, Chuck Lorre, and Leanne Morgan, with executive producers Nick Bakay and Judi Marmel also on board. It is produced by Chuck Lorre Productions, Inc. in association with Warner Bros. Television.
Netflix continues to lean into stand-up and comedy formats, with Morgan joining a roster of fan-favorite performers including Bert Kreischer, Shane Gillis, Tom Segura, John Mulaney, Kevin Hart, Ali Wong, and Michelle Buteau.
With its heartfelt premise, celebrated star, and growing fanbase, Leanne season 2 looks set to bring even more laughter, warmth, and southern charm to Netflix subscribers.
