Jeannie Mai Leaves ‘Dancing With The Stars’ After Life Threatening Diagnosis

Jeannie Mai Was Diagnosed With A Throat Abscess Causing Her To Have To Leave ‘DWTS.’

Jeannie Mai and her Dancing With The Stars partner, Brandon Armstrong’s time on the show has unfortunately come to an end after she was hospitalized for a life threatening throat abscess.

Jeannie shared in a post that it all started as a sore throat until she went to her doctor and discovered that it was a dangerous infection that had already closed 60% of her airway. She said that the infection became a throat abscess that spread in a matter of 3 days. Her doctor even said that if she would have waited one more day, her throat would have closed.

Jeannie Mai also updated her followers on the post, sharing that she underwent emergency surgery that went successful and she is now recovering although she is very sad to have to end her time on DWTS.

Later, she also shared this sweet video from Monday night’s episode of Dancing With The Stars. In the video, Jeannie shares a message from the hospital and we get to see some clips from her time on the show while she shares her emotional journey of getting to where she is today, which she’s been very vocal about on the show. Everyone in the building on Monday night’s episode seemed to get a bit emotional as Tyra Banks wished her well and complemented Brandon.

Jeannie was awesome on the show and her story is so powerful! I’m sad to see her go but I’m glad that her condition was caught in time and that she is recovering.
