I Know This Much is True S1 E2 Recap & After Show: I am tired of being my brothers Keeper!

We start off with a flashback of Thomas and Dominick on a school tip to the Statue of Liberty where Thomas accidentally locks himself in the bus bathroom, which causes much ridicule and anxiety for Thomas. The result of which is neither brother getting see Lady Liberty. “My brother ruins everything.” Back in the present, Dominick meets Thomas’s social worker (beautifully played by Rosie O’Donnell) who does not take his shit but cares about his brother. We then learn that Dominick and his ex-wife Dessa had a baby girl that died of SIDS, which eventually broke them up. Finally, Dominick meets Thomas’s psychiatrist Dr. Patel, who reveals the harsh truth of his brothers sickness by letting him listen to a tape recorded session.

Dominick finds out more about his grandfather’s life in America and how his mother got brought into the world. Ralph Drinkwater tips Dominick off about something horrible that may have happened to his brother Thomas inside the facility. Dominick is able to free Thomas, but is warned it’s not a good idea.

After getting Thomas released to him from Hatch, Dominic and Thomas visit the falls. It’s a nice moment that quickly becomes Ominous. They go back to Dominic’s apt to sleep, but in the middle of the night, Dominic wakes up to Thomas missing. His worst thoughts are confirmed, Thomas went back to the falls and accidentally drowned. Dominic blames himself and at the wake, he goes off on Ray and ruins it, sending everyone home. In a final flashback we get confirmation of the awful person their grandfather was. Ray then has a heart attack, which ironically bring him and Dominic closer together. We find out that Dominic and Thomas’ father was Henry Drinkwater, and that Ralf is their cousin. The series ends with Dominic taking responsibility for his life and choosing Hope.
