High Potential Season 2: Everything You Need To Know

High Potential season 2 premieres this September on ABC with Kaitlin Olson leading a returning and expanded cast as new mysteries unfold.

ABC’s breakout crime drama High Potential is gearing up for its highly anticipated second season, and fans won’t have to wait long. Season 2 premieres on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, with episodes airing weekly on ABC and streaming the next day on Hulu.

The series, created by Drew Goddard, became a runaway hit after debuting in September 2024. Over its 13-episode first season, High Potential steadily grew into a ratings powerhouse, earning the title of ABC’s most-watched new series in seven years. The pilot alone drew more than 30 million viewers across ABC, Hulu, Hulu on Disney+, and digital platforms. That success led to a swift renewal in January 2025, making season 2 one of the most anticipated TV returns this fall.

Kaitlin Olson anchors the series as Morgan Gillory, a single mother of three who works as a janitor while secretly boasting a genius-level IQ of 160. After accidentally revealing her sharp intellect at the LAPD, she landed a consultant role in the major crimes division. Paired with Detective Karadec (played by Daniel Sunjata), Morgan balances solving crimes with a personal quest to track down her missing first husband, Roman.

The first season ended with multiple cliffhangers. Most notably, Morgan discovered Roman is still alive — and that Karadec may know where he’s hiding. Meanwhile, a sinister new villain emerged, leaving Morgan a chilling message that suggested their dangerous “game” was only beginning. The finale also teased a possible love triangle between Morgan, Karadec, and fellow janitor Tom (JD Pardo).

Season 2 kicks off with the premiere episode titled “Pawns.” According to ABC, the storyline will follow Morgan as she fights to shield her family from the Game Maker’s threats, while a new case forces the LAPD to decide if her instincts can be trusted before the killer’s next move turns deadly.

Alongside Olson and Sunjata, the returning ensemble includes Javicia Leslie, Judy Reyes, Deniz Akdeniz, and JD Pardo. Season 2 also brings in fresh faces: Steve Howey joins as precinct captain Nick Wagner, described as a “savvy political animal” who always finds himself at the center of the action, and Mekhi Phifer will guest star in a new role connected to the team.

Showrunner Harthan has promised that season 2 will pick up the cliffhangers without delay, while also deepening the overarching mystery and expanding on the supporting cast. Olson echoed the excitement, saying she looks forward to diving deeper into character relationships and backstories.

For fans eager to catch up, High Potential season 1 is currently available to stream on Hulu.

With higher stakes, new faces, and Kaitlin Olson’s sharp, offbeat performance at its center, season 2 of High Potential looks ready to keep audiences hooked.
