Happy Birthday Chadwick Boseman: Stars And Friends Pay Tribute

On what would have been his 44th Birthday, stars and friends are remembering Chadwick Boseman.

Today is a bittersweet one for fans and friends of Chadwick Boseman. Three months after his death from colon cancer, Boseman would have turned forty-four today. Instead of making this day one of mourning and grief, many have decided to celebrate the Black Panther star’s life and legacy as an actor. On Disney+, Marvel Studios has updated the intro for Black Panther to include a tribute to Boseman’s performance as T’Challa.

Chadwick’s onscreen love interest and Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong’o posted a simple yet elegant photo of the pair. She captioned the picture of a smiling Chadwick with the phrase “Deeply loved, sorely missed.”

Another Black Panther cast member to show love for Chadwick is former MCU villain Michael B. Jordan. The Sexiest Man Alive winner posted a photo of him embracing Boseman from behind. The two stars have always had a close relationship and bond, which is reflected in their onscreen performances. Jordan accompanied the picture with the message, “continue watching over us King.”

Mark Ruffalo took to Twitter to share a video of the cast and crew of Avengers: Endgame singing Happy Birthday to Boseman. The video also included costars Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, and Danai Gurira embracing the actor. In the end, Chadwick is presented with his very own cake, which he gestures to in excitement.

Kerry Washington informed her followers that on this day, Chadwick Boseman was at the forefront of her mind. She posted a photo of Boseman flashing his now iconic smile in a black tank top.

Rapper and actor Common also posted a series of photos of Chadwick on his Twitter account. Not only were there photos of Chadwick as T’Challa, but also at his Howard University speech in 2018. He partnered the tribute with a message of thanks to Boseman. “Thank you for using your gift to bring light to this world,” the Oscar winning artist wrote.

As for fans, many have taken to creating edits, gifs, and fan videos to show their appreciation for the star. Boseman’s show stopping look at the 2018 Met Gala is also receiving newfound attention. Although he had only been acting since 2008, it is clear that his career has left a major impact on the young and old alike.

A final touching tidbit is that in the newly released Marvel game Spider-Man: Miles Morales, there is an easter egg dedicated to Chadwick. The PS4/PS5 flagship game created a photo realistic version of New York City. This rendering is so painstakingly accurate that each street even receives its own name. One of those streets was named ‘Boseman Way’ in honor of Chadwick’s continuous work for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
