Former Bachelorette Contestant Tyler Gwozdz Dead After Suspected Drug Overdose

Tragedy struck Bachelor Nation Thursday as we learned of the passing of former Bachelorette contestant and Hannah-Brown-suitor, Tyler Gwozdz.

Gwozdz had the very first one on one date of Hannah Brown’s season.

Tyler passed away of a suspected heroin overdose in a locked bathroom, after being admitted last week in Boca Raton, Florida.

On the show, Tyler was quiet, introspective, and thoughtful, a psychology graduate student with whom Hannah had a great time on their date. Tyler mysteriously disappeared from production after unsubstantiated rumors leaked that he instigated an abusive relationship with an ex-girlfriend.

Tyler slammed those rumors, saying, “the rumors are so far out of the realm of my personality and values that it seems silly to waste time denying, but I suppose I will for the record.”

On the show, Hannah was sad to see him disappear.

“Tyler G. had to leave, and that’s upsetting because I really enjoyed my date with him,” she shared.

Tyler was obviously a bachelor alumni insider. His last instagram post on September 2, shows him with fellow contestants Matt Donald, Dylan Barbour, and Clay Harbour, Grant Eckel.

It’s tragic to see someone so young lose their life, especially after our short but favorable impression of him, at least as we say him portrayed on the show. We can’t help but wonder if the public shaming around his former relationship, whether valid or unsubstantiated, had an affect on his mental health.

Our deepest condolences to his family and friends.
