Football Player’s Who Had Major Life Events At The Super Bowl!

From babies to proposals, the Super Bowl really is the place to be for big milestones in the NFL. Here are some players who have had their lives changed in more ways than one during the big game!

By now you’ve probably seen heard that Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Van Jefferson had an extra special Super Bowl Sunday this year following the Rams’ win against the Cincinnati Bengals. Jefferson welcomed his second child with his wife Samaria following the NFC championship game this Sunday in a now-viral video of him rushing out of the stadium to the hospital.

Samaria was actually in attendance at this year’s Super Bowl until leaving by ambulance to deliver their son mid-game — talk about dedication!

Jefferson isn’t the only player in Super Bowl history to experience another major life event the same night as the biggest matchup in American sports. Here are some other NFL players who have experienced major milestones either at or around the biggest show in American football!

Taylor Rapp of the Los Angeles Rams

Rapp also celebrated an extra victory Sunday night. Following the Rams’ Super Bowl win, defensive back Rapp got down on one knee and popped the question to now-fiancé Dani Johnson, meaning the Rams secured more than one ring this Sunday. Looks like the Rams have plenty of celebrating to do this week!

Greg Jones of the New York Giants

Jones proposed to now-wife Amanda Piechowski on the field after winning Super Bowl XLVI in 2012 against the New England Patriots. Amanda and Greg are college sweethearts and have been married since 2013 — sounds like that Superbowl was a major moment in their amazing love story!

Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs

While not exactly *at* the Superbowl, Mahomes proposed to longtime girlfriend (now fiancee) Brittany Matthews following the Kansas City Chiefs holding their Superbowl Ring Ceremony to celebrate their 2020 win against the 49ers on September 1 of 2020. The Mahomes took home more than one ring that night!

Honorable Mentions:

Van Jefferson wasn’t the only player on baby watch this Super Bowl. Teammate Odell Beckham Jr. is also expecting a baby with his girlfriend Lauren Wood, who is due any day with their first child. OBJ said he was “on standby” all weekend as he and Lauren await the arrival of their firstborn son.

It was rumored that in the event of a Bengals win this Sunday, Joe Burrow would propose to longtime girlfriend Olivia Holzmacher. While we’ll never know if this was the case, it could mean another proposal is around the corner very soon!
