Congratulations are in order for Halsey as she announced that she is pregnant with her first child! Like many icons before her, the singer-songwriter shared the news by uploading an image of herself and her baby bump to Instagram with the caption, “surprise! ” The beautiful photos were taken by photographer Sam Dameshek.

Halsey has previously expressed her excitement about motherhood, stating in a 2016 Rolling Stones interview, “I want to be a mom more than I want to be a pop star, more than I want to be anything in the world.” She has also written about her desire to become a mother in the song More.
However, the road to pregnancy has not always been easy for Halsey as she suffered 3 miscarriages over the years. The singer acknowledged her past experiences with the tweet “my rainbow 🌈,” which many speculate is a reference to the term “rainbow baby.” The expression is used to describe a child born to a family that has previously experienced miscarriage, stillbirth, infant loss, or neonatal death.
