Everything We Know About The Live-Action ‘Powerpuff Girls’

The CW has finally found its leads for their new ‘Powerpuff Girls’ live-action series. Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming reboot and how it will be different from the original cartoon.

Get ready to welcome back Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup to screens everywhere! Chloe Bennet, Dove Cameron, and Yana Perrault are set to star in the CW’s live-action pilot, PowerPuff Girls. From plot to casting and development, here is a recap of what we know about the show.

Its Development

Based on Craig McCracken’s series, it was announced in August that Warner Brothers would executive produce this new reboot. Diablo Cody (Juno) and Heather Regnier (Veronica Mars) are set as the writers for the pilot, with Maggie Kiley (Riverdale) as director.

The Plot

Taking inspiration from other CW cartoons to live-action series like Riverdale and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, the show will follow Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup in their 20s as they come to terms with their lost childhood due to crime fighting. When the world faces a new threat, they’ll have to decide whether they want to reunite as superheroes. While the cartoon focused on the three superheroes as children, this series will delve into the three growing into adulthood and how their actions as children have affected them.

The Cast

The outgoing and intelligent leader Blossom will be played by Bennet, who was recently in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Cameron, known for her roles in Descendents and Liv and Maddie, will take on the sweet-natured blonde, Bubbles. Both Bennet and Cameron have starred alongside each other before in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but this time they’ll be friends rather than enemies. Jagged Little Pill’s Perrault will star as the rebellious powerhouse Bubbles.

We can’t wait to see the Powerpuff girls fight crime again! Until then, maybe we’ll go catch up on all their adventures by rewatching the original series.
