Co-Founder of ‘Hella Looks’, Neijah Lanae is Making New Waves in Digital Media

Neijah Lanae, Co-Founder of Female Ran LA Magazine ‘Hella Looks’ Joins The Black Creators Club Podcast to talk about  the New Age Digital World in the 21st Century and Beyond

In a recent episode of The Black Creators Club, hosts Akilah Ffriend and Eboné Chatman interviewed Neijah Lanae, the Co- founder of Hella Looks a short form magazine that Neijah calls a Zine that shares local stories of the Bay area, but also connects with the raw, authentic dialogue within the creative community in LA.

Neijah Lanae is originally from Oakland, California and represents the Bay area from her style to her content, even naming her magazine after one of the most popular sayings in Nor Cal “Hella”. She started off with her love of music and let her ideas run wild when it came to her creating her magazine Hella Looks. Year-to-date, Neijah and her team has released 3 Zines (shorter forms of magazines) and has produced art shows, concerts and creative experiences that all have a meaningful message of connection and positive exchange of energy.

“Being apart of a team is extremely humbling, and you have to be a team player before you are a leader”.

Hella Looks represents real people who have incredible stories to tell, ranging from love, lifestyle, fashion, art and music. So there is definitely a little something for everyone to find whatever “look” works best for them.

In Neijah’s latest version of her magazine, Hella Looks the “Action” Zine, the team was able to interview Fredrika Newton, former Black Panther and wife to Huey P. Newton, a Black activist and co-founder of the Black Panther Party. Neijah said this was an emotional interview, as Fredrika expressed her thoughts and experience in the Black Panther Party in that era of time. (this interview can be seen on her instagram, as well as the creative visuals). This is her 3rd full Zine and she is pulling BIG name pillars in the community. Keep your eyes open for Hella Looks because they are doing big things!

The themes in the episode of the Black Creators Club are endless as we explore all areas leadership, creativity and forging your own path in a new age digital world and remember to always abide by your ABCs- Always Be Creating!
