Chicago Fire has lost another cast member as Michael Bradway exits the series ahead of season 14, following two other key departures.
Chicago Fire is undergoing another significant cast shakeup as it prepares to return for Season 14—and fans aren’t thrilled.
Michael Bradway, who joined the NBC drama two seasons ago as Jack Damon, the half-brother of Taylor Kinney’s Kelly Severide, will not be back for the upcoming season. The news comes via TVLine just days after Chicago Fire fans learned that both Jake Lockett (Sam Carver) and Daniel Kyri (Darren Ritter) would also be departing the series as regulars.
Bradway, a semi-recent addition to the One Chicago universe, quickly became a fan favorite. His character’s bond with Severide brought new emotional layers to the long-running series. However, Bradway’s departure appears to be tied to a new opportunity: he has been cast in Prime Video’s upcoming adaptation of Carley Fortune’s novel Every Summer After, now titled Every Year After. Bradway confirmed the news on Instagram, writing, “Couldn’t be more excited to be your Charlie 🚤.”

Though producers reportedly remain open to Bradway returning if his schedule permits, fans have been vocal online about their disappointment with the turnover.
“I’ll miss him and the others leaving Chicago Fire. I really liked all three,” one fan wrote. Another chimed in, “Too much turnover on shows now.”
Some are also questioning recent casting decisions, including the introduction of new characters to replace familiar faces. “I’d rather they keep who they have instead of adding new characters,” a commenter shared, echoing the frustration over multiple exits in such a short period.
Still, not everyone is mourning the change. One viewer admitted, “To be fair, not gonna miss the guy,” showing the divisive nature of Bradway’s storyline among fans.
While showrunner Andrea Newman hinted to Parade that the recent exits don’t necessarily mean we’ve seen the last of Carver or Ritter, the confirmed loss of Bradway adds to the uncertainty around the future makeup of Firehouse 51.
As Season 14 gears up for production, Chicago Fire fans will be watching closely to see how the show fills the void—and whether more surprises are in store.
