Bachelor Biography

Juan Barbieri joined Bachelor Nation in 2004 as a suitor on Jillian Harris’ season of The Bachelor. Barbieri, a general contractor from Argentina, garnered a lot of attention from day one at the mansion for his interactions with fellow contestant David Good, who accused him of breaking “The Man Code” for not taking a shot with the other guys.

“I was trying to pace myself because this was an opportunity to make a second impression with Jillian. I didn’t want to come across sloppy or drunk,” he said in an interview with People after the show. “I think the man code thing is silly. I am a 36-year-old man, I enjoy a beer and a cocktail as much as anybody else. But there is a time and place. You’re representing yourself and your family on TV.”

He added that Good made his time on the show difficult.

“It wasn’t something I really prepared for,” he said. “Going into this, I prepared to meet her, make some friends and go on adventures. It was an extra layer of things that I had to deal with that a lot of the other guys didn’t. It wasn’t easy and there was definitely tension.”

While Barbieri said he was able to reconcile with Good, he wasn’t able to make his relationship with Harris last. She sent him home in the fourth week, which he said was unexpected.

“I don’t know if I expected to stay until the very end as it is clear she had greater chemistry with some of the other guys,” he said. “I was just being myself and doing the best I could under difficult circumstances. I think she and I lacked chemistry. “

Barbieri was invited back on the franchise for the premiere season of Bachelor Pad, a spinoff that preceded Bachelor in Paradise and followed a similar weekly elimination-style format with an added $250,000 prize at the end.

Barbieri, who fell into some drama after previously dating contestant Nikki Kaapke, was sent home in week one.

Where is he now?

Since going on the franchise, Barbieri has stayed close to his fellow Bachelor Nation members–he joined Jesse Csinsak, Ann Csinsak, Vienna Girardi and others for a snowy mountain reunion in Breckenridge, CO in 2011.

He’s also continued his career in television, taking his general contracting work to the small screen on HGTV’s The High Low Project, where he designs and builds dream homes on a budget.

Barbieri got his love story off the screen, however. He’s now married to Renee Barbieri, who he recently bought property with in California.

“We are proud new owners of this incredible parcel of land overlooking Glendale and DTLA!” he shared in an Instagram post. “Exciting project to come!”
