Attorney at Law Justin Reese Talks Reality TV, NOLA Culture & Being a Practicing Attorney

Attorney at law Justin Reese joins The Black Creators Club Podcast to talk about why Black lives REALLY matter, the culture rooted in New Orleans & being on Bravo’s Southern Charm New Orleans.

In a recent episode of The Black Creators Club, hosts Akilah Ffriend and Eboné Chatman interviewed Attorney at Law Justin Reese, a reality tv star from Bravo’s Southern Charm New Orleans. We talk about his experience and the inner workings on reality tv, as well as the rich culture that New Orleans brings to the table and how he wanted to represent his city to the best of his abilities.

Justin is a New Orleans native and has strong family roots in Nola, with his dad being a judge and his mom running the city as a socialite and philanthropist. His parents are not shy about having a good time and coming dressed for the occasion.

His parents played a major role in his life as his dad was there to teach him how to be a gentleman, how to be professional, how to wear a suit, how to tie a tie and his mom was there to fill in the gaps and teach him about responsibility, organization, love and care towards others. It was a well-balanced act between the two that helped develop Justin into the man he is today.

“Looking at the criminal justice system.. That was also part of me not wanting to be a DA anymore because I saw how unfair the sentencing guidelines were towards minorities ”.

Being a Black man and growing up in New Orleans where the population reflects a diverse but cultured experience. We dive into the conversation about the Black Lives Matter Movement and how the death of George Floyd is something that was unfortunate but not uncommon; dating all the way back to when was first getting into law, the unfair sentencing he witnessed changed his career path and the type of law he chose to practice.

We had a great time talking with Justin and even though we talked about serious topics the whole conversation wasn’t serious. We of course had to talk about his time on reality tv and how all the drama gets stirred up on the show. He gave us insight and answered some of our burning questions!
