Amy Poehler and Mike Schur reunite for their first collaboration since Parks and Recreation with the Peacock comedy Dig, based on Excavations.
Amy Poehler and Mike Schur are teaming up once again—and fans of Parks and Recreation have every reason to celebrate. Peacock has officially picked up Dig, a brand-new comedy series from the Emmy-winning duo. This marks the first on-screen collaboration between Amy Poehler and Mike Schur since their iconic NBC series ended in 2015.
Dig, based on Kate Myers’ bestselling novel Excavations, centers on four women working at an archaeological site in Greece. Each woman is navigating a different personal crisis when they stumble upon a long-hidden secret that could rewrite the course of history. What begins as an unexpected discovery quickly turns into a high-stakes international conspiracy, setting the stage for a fresh and thrilling comedic ride.
Amy Poehler will not only star in the series but also co-write and executive produce alongside Mike Schur, who’s known for his work on The Good Place, A Man on the Inside, and of course, Parks and Recreation. The pilot will be co-written by the duo, bringing their sharp comedic sensibility and proven storytelling chemistry back to TV screens.
Joining them on the creative team are J.J. Philbin (Only Murders in the Building, Single Parents), Morgan Sackett (Hacks, Veep), Dave Becky (Loot, Russian Doll), David Miner (30 Rock), Sharon Jackson (Life & Beth), Kate Arend (Russian Doll), and Jordan Grief (Lucy and Desi). Author Kate Myers, whose novel inspired the series, will also serve as co-executive producer.
Produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, Dig further cements Amy Poehler and Mike Schur’s long-running relationship with NBCUniversal. Both have overall deals with Universal Television and longstanding ties to the NBC family—dating back to their early careers on Saturday Night Live. The duo previously co-wrote landmark Parks and Recreation episodes like the 100th installment, “Second Chunce,” and the series finale, “One Last Ride.”
Dig will join Peacock’s expanding lineup of original series, which includes Poker Face season 2, Twisted Metal season 2, Love Island USA season 7, Bel-Air season 4, and many more. The platform continues to bolster its slate with new voices and returning fan-favorite talent, making Dig one of the most anticipated comedy arrivals of the year.
