Amazon Renews Mrs. Maisel for Season Four

Season three just dropped in December, but The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel already has plans to return for a fourth season!

Amazon has renewed the Emmy and Golden Globe winning show only days after the third season dropped on Prime. The release of season three earned the show its most watched opening weekend ever—so between this and the awards, it’s no wonder Amazon has been so quick to greenlight a fourth season.

“We were thrilled to hear that for the fourth time, we do not have to pack up and vacate the premises,” said Creator and Executive Producer Amy Sherman-Palladino and Executive Producer Daniel Palladino. “We’d like to thank Amazon for all their faith and support, their partnership and enthusiasm, and for letting us hang with our favorite people, the cast and crew of Maisel, for a little while longer.”

In case you haven’t been watching, the show follows a 1950’s housewife, Miriam “Midge” Maisel (played by Rachel Brosnahan), who accidentally stumbles into a career of stand up comedy after her husband, Joel, leaves her for his secretary.

By the time we enter season two, Midge has welcomed her desire to be a comedienne, and we’ve seen her journey from reluctant hero to rising star. Season three starts with Midge’s comedy tour while on-and-off again Joel pushes for his dreams of owning his own nightclub.

Let’s not forget about the rest of the stellar cast, including the hilarious Susie played by Alex Borstein (who you might know as the voice of Lois on Family Guy). Funny people Jane Lynch, Kevin Pollack, Marin Hinkle, and Caroline Aaron also round out the cast, making this quite the ensemble piece.

Even when Midge isn’t performing her stand up, this show is full of a comedic energy which makes it a modern-day classic.

There’s no news yet about when season four might drop, but based on previous seasons, we can speculate seeing the show sometime at the end of 2020. Stay tuned! We’ll keep you covered with any news updates on when we might see The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel return!
