8 Netflix Original TV Shows To Look Forward To In 2023!

2022 is about to wrap up, and with a new year, there is a host of new Netflix original series to look forward to! These include titles such as That ‘90s Show and Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre, alongside returning shows such as You, Sex Education, and Lincoln Lawyer.

You (Season 4)

Our favorite psychological thriller is returning for another season, and Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) heads to London under the guise of Professor Johnathan Moore to follow his latest, uhh, love interest? victim? librarian Marienne Bellamy (Tati Gabrielle) after offing wife Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti). The show’s trailer teases his life in London among socialites and other women who may fall victim to Joe this coming season.

Coming to Netflix: Part 1 – February 9th, Part 2 – March 9th

That ’90s Show

In the sequel to That ‘70s Show, Eric (Topher Grace) and Donna (Laura Prepon) are married (woo!) with a 15-year-old daughter, who is unsurprisingly named Leia. We follow as Leia, played by Callie Haverda, visits grandparents Red (Kurtwood Smith) and Kitty (Debra Jo Rupp) over the summer in the same childhood home we remember from the original series. Alongside those mentioned above, there are other cast members we can look forward to seeing return, such as Wilmer Valderrama, Ashton Kutcher, and Mila Kunis. Danny Masterson is not set to feature in the series.

Coming to Netflix: January 19th

Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre (Season 1)

Junji Ito’s iconic manga stories will come to life in the upcoming series featuring 20 of the mangaka’s original works, including the iconic Tomie and Sōichi, for which the beautifully terrifying artwork has become extremely popular online. Ito’s works are always unique and spine-chilling, so we can’t wait to see the Netflix adaptation of the stories. The show will be in Japanese, and if you’re a fan of horror and animation, you won’t want to miss this series.

Coming to Netflix: January 19th

The Lying Life of Adults (Season 1)

This foreign coming-of-age show is based on the national indie bestseller of the same name by pseudonymous Italian author Elena Ferrante. The series will follow teenager Giovanna and her turbulent relationship with the adults in her life set in 1990s Naples and will be six episodes long.

Coming to Netflix: January 4th

Sex Education (Season 4)

The end of the third season of Sex Education left us with many questions about what lies ahead for our favorite characters. The sale of Moordale Secondary School, Meave’s move to America, and Jean’s shocking revelation left us desperately wanting to know their fates. We’re likely to see everything unfold this coming Summer if Netflix follows the show’s previous release schedules.

Coming to Netflix: TBA

Lincoln Lawyer (Season 2)

Los Angeles lawyer Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo) won our hearts in 2022 in the first season with his fiery passion, optimism, and all-around admirability and toughness. The show proved to be highly entertaining, comedic, and thrilling, and with a dramatic ending. We can’t wait to see what the next season brings.

Coming to Netflix: TBA

Avatar: The Last Airbender (Season 1)

The live-action remake of the beloved animated series has created a lot of buzz since it was announced in 2018, and we’re excited to see what Netflix has made of one of our most cherished childhood shows. It will be a must-watch for nostalgia purposes.

Coming to Netflix: TBA

Bodies (Season 1)

Netflix has not missed with the crime shows they have released in the past, so we’re anticipating Bodies, based on the 2015 graphic novel by Si Spencer, to be nothing short of exceptional. The eight-part limited series follows four separate investigators in London during different periods spanning 150 years- 1890s Edmond Hillinghead, 1940s adventurer Karl Whiteman, 2010s Detective Sergeant Shahara Hasan, and Maplewood from post-apocalyptic 2050.
