5 R&B Albums Dropping This Spring That You Need to Stream!

In 2023 we’re expecting even more R&B masterpieces, and artists like Daniel Caesar and Chloe are ready to deliver albums we’ve all been waiting for! Read to learn who will be dropping new R&B projects this Spring.

If you’re an R&B enthusiast like us, you know 2022 featured an incredible troop of R&B albums infused with diverse cuts of pop, afro beats, and alternative styles; proving the genre to still be alive and well.

Our favorite artists made cultural shifts with their releases last year, a lot of which are still dominating the charts in 2023. Despite not releasing a project since 2017, SZA’s SOS album continues to have fans in a chokehold, while Beyonce’s Renaissance is a healthy addiction we’ll never give up. Veteran artists like Kehlani, Ari Lennox, and The Weeknd fed us with brilliant bodies of work too, and newcomers like Steve Lacy, Giveon, and Ari Lennox staked their artistic claim to fame with the debut of beautifully crafted albums.

R&B is the gift that keeps on giving and we’re excited for the next rollout of R&B albums this year will bring. We will be narrowing down the most anticipated R&B albums soon to release this spring, providing you with an inside scoop on who to lookout for an album from.

Chlöe

Chlöe has blossomed into a superstar as she’s conquered the task of debuting as a solo artist after winning over the world with her sister duo Chlöe x Halle, and their freshman studio album Ungodly Hour. Chlöe’s personal brand is distinguishably different from the Chlöe we’ve heard in Chlöe x Halle. From the release of singles like “Have Mercy,” “Pray it Away,” and “For the Night,” she’s already given us a taste of her new style. Thematically and sonically Chole has developed a celestial style of high-energy and gospel-like melodies infused with pop, R&B, and hip hop elements. Her debut album, In Pieces, is set to release March 31st, and if you’re like us, anticipating an amazing album, you can grab tickets to her tour that kicks off on April 11th.

Daniel Caesar

Seven years ago, Daniel Caesar released Freudian, his freshman studio album that became a critically acclaimed work of art. He received many accolades including Juno Awards, multiple Grammy nominations, and a Grammy win for his iconic duet with H.E.R  in the Best R&B Performance category. Since then, the talented artist has consistently stayed in the spotlight and secured Grammy nominations through featuring on Justin Beiber’s song “Peaches” and one from his second studio album Case Study 01 for Best R&B Performance with “Love Again” featuring Brandy. He recently dropped a single “Do You Like Me?” teasing his airy angelic style with lyrics that touch on the insecurities of relationships– we can only hope sets the tone for the album. With all this noise and success, Caesar is ready to capitalize and release his third studio album entitled Never Enough, dropping on April 7th.

Kali Uchis

Last year, Grammy winner Kali Uchis announced that in 2023 she would be dropping not one, but two albums– one in Spanish and one in English. Kali Uchis is an all around versatile artist with a seductive bossa nova vibe to her music, incorporating her Columbian roots with modern jazz and R&B components. Her second album, Sin Miedo (del Amor y Otros Demonios), dropped in 2020 and reached amazing heights on Billboard, landing her on the top ten Latin chart. Uchis has worked with household names over the years like SZA, Rico Nasty, and even went on tour with Tyler The Creator in 2022. Her forthcoming album dropping on March 3rd is titled Red Moon in Venus, and she’s already set out her tour schedule for this album which she’s stated will be “a timeless, burning expression of desire, heartbreak, faith, and honesty, reflecting the divine femininity of the moon and Venus.” Uchis music is what we all need right now,and she already unveiled “Moonlight”, a track that will be on the album so be sure to stream it!

Masego

Multi-talented artist, Masego, is ready to release another impressive project and there’s no amount of preparation to get us ready for what he has in store. Masego has a versatile sound and could give us anything from soulful R&B and jazz tunes like Lady Lady, an album that dropped in 2018, or more upbeat sapid dance music akin to his 2020 EP Studying Abroad: Extended Stay. Whatever the sound may be, Masego will for sure deliver his best on his second studio album, self titled, Masego releasing on March 3rd. He’s set to start touring right away after the album releases, with the first leg beginning in Las Vegas on March 12th. We can not wait to bring in spring with new ultra smooth sultry music from Masego.

6Lack

6lack has teased a third project on his social media platforms for some time now, and this month–he’s finally ready to release his third studio album. His last project, 6pc Hot EP, was released three years ago, but he’s planted a few seeds along the way through feature collaborations with artists like Lil Baby, Jessie Reyez, and Lil Tjay. On March 24th, 6lack will be releasing his newest album, Since I Have a Lover, and he’s already dropped a music video to the title track of the album.
