Never Have I Ever opens with protagonist Devi Vishwakumar starting her sophomore year of high school. After a traumatic freshman year where her dad died and her legs were paralyzed, Devi wants to prove her coolness to her classmates, win over her crush Paxton, and balance her family life. The show’s first two seasons are out now on Netflix with season three coming on August 12!

Rap Sh!t

Written by Issa Rae, Shawna Clark, an aspiring rapper, is working at a hotel in Miami when she connects with Mia Knight, an old friend from high school. The two friends team up to create a rap group of their own. The show premiered on HBO Max on July 21, and new episodes are released weekly.

How I Met Your Father

If you’re an avid lover of Ted, Barney, Marshall, Lily, and Robin, you’ve got to watch How I Met Your Father on Hulu. Sophie recounts to her son how she met his father in true Ted Mosby fashion. The younger Sophie, a hopeless romantic played by Hillary Duff, has a cast of friends that deal with the trials of young, single life, just like Ted and his friends in the original series.

Smiling Friends

Lovers of absurd, quirky adult animation will love this surreal Adult Swim series on HBO Max. The series of short episodes follow friends and coworkers Pim and Charlie who work at a company with the purpose of making people smile. The plot and animation style is imaginative and colorful. A special episode ‘Smiling Friends Go to Brazil’ streams on August 7!

Workin’ Moms

The Netflix series Workin’ Moms was nominated for Best Comedy Series at the International Emmy Awards in 2018 and 2019, and the love has continued! The show came back for a sixth season this year. Workin’ Moms stars a group of moms balancing work and family life and takes an honest and comedic look at what working mothers deal with.

Only Murders In The Building

Three strangers living in an Upper West Side apartment building, played by executive producers and stars Selena Gomez, Steve Martin, and Martin Short, share an interest in a true-crime podcast. When a resident of their building mysteriously dies, the police declare it a suicide. The three characters investigate the murder for their own true-crime podcast, believing that there is more to the story. Season 2 is being released one episode per week on Hulu, centered around a new murder. Fans of true crime, crime fiction, and comedy should check this out!
