28 Years Later Trailer Drops For The Bone Temple

A new trailer for 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple gives fans their first look at Nia DaCosta’s bold continuation of the iconic horror saga ahead of its January 16, 2026 theatrical release.

A new and unsettling chapter of a legendary horror universe is officially on the horizon. Sony has released the first trailer for 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, offering a suspense-filled glimpse into the next evolution of the story originally introduced by Danny Boyle and Alex Garland. The film will be released exclusively in movie theaters on January 16, 2026, inviting audiences back into a world where danger has taken on a frighteningly human form.

Directed by Nia DaCosta, the film “expands upon the world created by Danny Boyle and Alex Garland” while flipping its foundations in unexpected ways. Rather than simply revisiting the infected-ravaged landscape fans know, DaCosta’s installment reimagines the threat that looms over survivors nearly three decades after the original chaos began.

At the center of the story is Dr. Kelson, played by Ralph Fiennes, who becomes entangled in a shocking new relationship that appears to have consequences far beyond his own survival. Meanwhile, Spike (Alfie Williams) faces his own terrifying ordeal as an encounter with Jimmy Crystal, portrayed by Jack O’Connell, spirals into an inescapable nightmare. As the trailer teases, The Bone Temple reveals a chilling truth: the infected may no longer be the greatest danger. Instead, the survivors themselves—and the lengths they’ll go to endure—emerge as the most unsettling threat yet.

The cast also includes Erin Kellyman and Chi Lewis-Parry, rounding out a grounded and intense ensemble that brings emotional weight to the film’s escalating horrors. On the creative side, DaCosta leads with a script written by Alex Garland, and the project is produced by Andrew Macdonald, Peter Rice, Bernard Bellew, Danny Boyle, and Garland. Cillian Murphy serves as executive producer.

While the film has not yet been rated by the Motion Picture Association, it promises the genre-bending tension the franchise is known for—now twisted into something even more unpredictable.

With the first trailer now available and anticipation building, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple looks ready to push the franchise into bold, unnerving new territory. Fans can download the new trailer now and begin their own leap into the unknown.
