Wednesday Renewed For Season 3 Ahead Of Season 2 Debut

Netflix renews Wednesday for season 3 before season 2 premieres as the record-breaking Addams Family series continues to cast its spell.

Netflix just gave fans of Wednesday another reason to snap twice in celebration. The streaming giant has officially renewed the Addams Family-inspired hit series for a third season, even before the highly anticipated second season has premiered.

Season 2 of Wednesday will roll out in two parts, with the first four episodes dropping on August 6 and the final four arriving on September 3. The series, which follows the deadpan misadventures of teenage gothic icon Wednesday Addams, has become a pop culture juggernaut since its debut on November 23, 2022.

The first season still holds the crown as Netflix’s most-watched English language series of all time, racking up a staggering 252.1 million views in just 91 days. It reached #1 in 90 countries, broke the 1 billion hours viewed mark within its first three weeks, and topped the Netflix Global Top 10 for six consecutive weeks — a record that still stands.

It also shattered weekly viewership records not once, but twice in a row, with more fans bingeing the macabre teen mystery than any other English series in Netflix history.

As hype continues to build for Season 2, which has already generated more than 2.8 billion social impressions, Netflix is doubling down on the darkly funny franchise with the official Season 3 renewal.

Series creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar teased what’s ahead, saying, “It’s been a dark delight to watch Wednesday cast her spell over audiences across the globe—one deadpan quip at a time. We’re beyond thrilled she’ll be returning to stalk the halls of Nevermore in Season 3. This time, she’ll unearth more of the school’s sinister secrets—and descend even deeper into the Addams family crypt. Or, as Wednesday would say: ‘Nothing brings a family together like a good exhumation.’”

Bela Bajaria, Netflix’s Chief Content Officer, praised the show’s massive impact, saying, “The undeniable impact of Wednesday resonated immediately with fans worldwide, driving it to the top of our charts as our most popular English language TV show, and sparking cultural trends. We are so proud of Al Gough, Miles Millar, Tim Burton, Jenna Ortega, and the entire Wednesday cast and crew for everything they’ve accomplished. On the heels of its highly anticipated season two return, we are thrilled to renew the iconic series for a third and to deliver more of what the fans love.”

Wednesday stars Jenna Ortega in the title role and is produced by MGM Television. It is executive produced and directed in part by Tim Burton, with Alfred Gough and Miles Millar serving as creators, writers, and showrunners. The show is based on the iconic characters created by Charles Addams.

Season 2 will continue to follow Wednesday as she navigates life, mystery, and the supernatural at Nevermore Academy, facing new enemies and challenges while keeping her signature wit razor-sharp.

Details on Wednesday Season 3 — including casting and plot — will be announced at a later time.
