Built In Birmingham: Brady & the Blues follows Tom Brady and Birmingham City’s remarkable 2024/25 season in new Prime Video docuseries.
Prime Video is taking fans deep inside the heart of English football with its upcoming five-part documentary Built In Birmingham: Brady & the Blues, set to launch globally on August 1. The UK Original series will premiere in more than 200 countries and territories, with all episodes available to stream the same day exclusively on Prime Video.
The sports docuseries gives viewers an unfiltered look at Birmingham City Football Club’s rollercoaster 2024/25 season — one that began in turmoil but ended in triumph. From relegation struggles and managerial shake-ups to a historic automatic promotion to the EFL Sky Bet Championship, Built In Birmingham: Brady & the Blues chronicles it all.
Front and center is NFL icon Tom Brady, who joined Birmingham City as a minority owner in 2023. “We’re trying to make this a world-class team,” Brady declares in the trailer, setting the tone for a season that would ultimately redefine the club’s direction. The series also features key figures including Head Coach Chris Davies, Chairman Tom Wagner, and Knighthead Capital’s Matt Alvarez, each offering insight into the mission to revamp the club and restore its winning culture.
Filmed with exclusive behind-the-scenes access, the series captures the inner workings of Birmingham City’s first team and ownership, while also spotlighting the club’s fiercely loyal fanbase. As one supporter puts it bluntly in the trailer: “Birmingham City have been the pioneers in f*****g up games of football from 1875.” But Brady & the Blues reveals how that legacy is being rewritten.
The project was conceived by Brady and Religion of Sports co-founder Gotham Chopra, building on their previous collaborations Tom vs. Time and Man in the Arena. This time, however, Brady steps into the role of team owner, adding a compelling new layer to his sports journey.
The series is executive produced by Peaky Blinders creator and lifelong Birmingham City fan Steven Knight, alongside Alvarez, Chopra, and a team from production houses Religion of Sports and Whisper. Knight’s emotional connection to the club adds depth and authenticity to the storytelling, which also celebrates Birmingham’s cultural history and the community’s unwavering support during decades without major success.
Co-directed by Chopra and Claudia Corbisiero (Sven), Built In Birmingham: Brady & the Blues explores more than just football — it’s about legacy, transformation, and the relentless pursuit of excellence, both on and off the pitch.
Built In Birmingham: Brady & the Blues joins Prime Video’s growing slate of sports docuseries, continuing to blend world-class storytelling with compelling real-life sports drama.
