The Pitt expands its season 2 cast with four new recurring stars as the HBO Max medical drama returns in January and explores its high-stakes story set ten months after the season 1 finale over Fourth of July weekend.
HBO Max’s hit medical drama The Pitt is gearing up for a major return, adding four recurring guest stars to its highly anticipated second season. Brittany Allen, Bonita Friedericy, Taylor Handley, and Jeff Kober have officially joined the ensemble, bringing fresh stories and new tensions to the fast-paced medical series.
Led and executive produced by Noah Wyle, The Pitt heads into its sophomore season in January. Season 2 picks up ten months after the dramatic events of the season 1 finale and unfolds over Fourth of July weekend—setting the stage for a high-pressure environment inside the fictional Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center’s emergency department.
Created by R. Scott Gemmill and produced by John Wells, The Pitt captures the urgent challenges that frontline healthcare workers in the U.S. face every day. Told in a real-time format, the series follows the physicians and nurses hour by hour as they confront overwhelming patient loads, personal crises, and the daily strain of limited resources.
The four new cast members will each play characters tied closely to the emergency department. Allen steps into the role of Roxie Hamler, an ED patient facing urgent circumstances. Friedericy plays Cora Wilkins, a woman visiting a patient in the same department. Handley appears as Paul Hamler, the husband of an ED patient, while Kober portrays Duke, a motorcycle engineer with a long-standing connection to one of the doctors.
They join an already stacked cast that includes Katherine LaNasa, Shawn Hatosy, Taylor Dearden, Patrick Ball, Isa Briones, Fiona Dourif, Supriya Ganesh, Shabana Azeez, and Gerran Howell. Season 2 also introduces Sepideh Moafi as a new series regular, with Charles Baker, Irene Choi, Laëtitia Hollard, Lucas Iverson, and Lawrence Robinson rounding out additional recurring roles.
Behind the scenes, The Pitt continues to be produced by John Wells Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television, where the company maintains an overall deal. Gemmill serves as creator and executive producer alongside Wells, Wyle, Erin Jontow from JWP, Simran Baidwan, Joe Sachs, and Michael Hissrich.
As the series heads into its next chapter filled with new faces and heightened stakes, fans can expect The Pitt to deliver more of the intense, character-driven storytelling that made its debut season a standout hit on HBO Max.
