The Rick and Morty comic series officially set to conclude at Oni Press after more than a decade, beginning with Rick and Morty: The End this December.
After more than a decade of multiverse chaos, Rick and Morty’s long-running comic book run at Oni Press is officially coming to an end. The publisher confirmed the news after teasing fans earlier this week with a cryptic image featuring only “The End,” leaving many worried about the future of the franchise on the comics side.
Oni Press has revealed that the finale will arrive through a six-issue miniseries titled Rick and Morty: The End, written by Daniel Kibblesmith with art by Jarrett Williams. The series launches December 3, 2025, and promises a dramatic conclusion for Rick Sanchez, Morty Smith, and the rest of the Smith family.
Currently, Kibblesmith is overseeing the major crossover event Rick and Morty Versus the Universe, which sees the duo under fire from both their original reality and the Parmesan Universe — a bizarre alternate dimension where the only difference is how people pronounce “Parmesan.” But the upcoming miniseries raises the stakes even further.
According to Oni Press, Rick Sanchez has become the most wanted man across every universe. With a massive bounty on his head, forces ranging from governments and military groups to mobsters, bounty hunters, circus clowns, and even endangered species are all trying to capture him. Morty Smith is the only person who might bring him in alive, but he’s not the only family member on Rick’s trail. “Space Beth” Smith is also determined to stop Rick — and she’s not nearly as concerned about whether he survives.
What makes this series particularly noteworthy is Oni’s bold statement accompanying the announcement: “THIS TITLE IS NOT SOME KIND OF ARTFUL METAPHOR, FOLKS! After 10 years and 100+ issues, the beginning of THE END starts here.” That declaration makes it clear this isn’t just another story arc but potentially the final chapter for Oni’s Rick and Morty comics altogether.
Whether this truly closes the book on the Rick and Morty comic era remains to be seen, but fans will get their answer as the six-part series unfolds. For now, one thing is certain: Rick and Morty: The End will mark a significant turning point for the franchise’s comic legacy.
