Maya Hawke narrates Nightmares of Nature, a chilling mix of natural history and horror with two seasons premiering this fall on Blumhouse TV and Netflix.
Nature gets terrifying in Nightmares of Nature, a brand-new natural history and horror hybrid series created by Blumhouse Television and Plimsoll Productions. Narrated by Maya Hawke, the groundbreaking project officially revealed its trailer and key art, setting the stage for a double dose of spine-tingling storytelling.
The series will launch with two seasons, each focusing on three animal characters thrust into a world where survival means confronting the most horrifying monsters and dangers the natural world has to offer.
Season 1, Cabin in the Woods, premieres on September 30. Set in the eerie expanse of the North American wilderness, the story follows a soon-to-be-mother mouse, a young bachelor raccoon, and a traumatized froglet who quickly realize the forest is far from safe. Seeking shelter, they stumble upon an old cabin in the woods. What appears to be a refuge soon transforms into a nightmare, as they discover the horrors inside are worse than what lurks outside.
Season 2, Lost in the Jungle, debuts on October 28, transporting viewers deep into the Central American rainforest — a place notorious for nature’s most brutal survival tests. This time, a young opossum, a newly-hatched iguana, and a fearless jumping spider face dangers beyond their comprehension. Their search for safety leads them into an abandoned laboratory hidden in the jungle, where unnatural horrors lurk around every corner, escalating their fight for survival into a desperate battle to escape.
Both seasons run three episodes at 45 minutes each, blending cinematic horror elements with the beauty and terror of the natural world.
Behind the series are powerhouse names in storytelling. Season 1 is produced and directed by Nathan Small, with Doug Mackay-Hope as series producer and executive producers Jason Blum, Martha Holmes, Mark Brownlow, Grant Mansfield, Gretchen Palek, and Matt Sarshik. Season 2 is produced and directed by Charlotte Lathane, with the same creative team returning to deliver more frights.
By combining the authenticity of natural history with the suspense of horror, Nightmares of Nature promises to reinvent how audiences experience the animal kingdom. With Maya Hawke’s narration guiding viewers through the chaos, the series is set to be both a chilling and unforgettable event.
