Get ready for a chilling trip to Tall Pines.
Netflix has just released the teaser trailer and first look images for its new limited series Wayward, a suspenseful and genre-blending mystery set in a seemingly perfect town where nothing is as it seems. The eight-episode series is set to premiere on September 25, exclusively on the streamer.
Created by Mae Martin, Wayward introduces viewers to Tall Pines, a picturesque town hiding deeply buried secrets beneath its flawless exterior. The story follows police officer Alex Dempsey (played by Mae Martin), who moves into town with his pregnant wife Laura (Sarah Gadon), only to discover that their new community may not be as idyllic as it appears.
Soon after arriving, Alex crosses paths with Abbie (Sydney Topliffe) and Leila (Alyvia Alyn Lind), two students from a local academy for “troubled teens” who are desperate to escape. The pair become unlikely allies in Alex’s growing investigation into disturbing events unraveling around them.
All signs begin to point toward Evelyn, the mysterious head of the academy, played by Toni Collette, as Alex digs deeper into the town’s dark history. What begins as a quiet relocation turns into a high-stakes battle for truth, safety, and survival.
Blending suspense, psychological drama, and generational conflict, Wayward explores themes of loyalty, friendship, and the timeless clash between youth and authority. With eerie undertones and a strong ensemble cast, the limited series promises a gripping ride from beginning to end.
The teaser offers a glimpse into Tall Pines’ unsettling charm, building intrigue around its characters and their hidden motivations. From locked doors to fleeting shadows, the clip hints that danger is always just beneath the surface.
Wayward will debut all eight episodes September 25 on Netflix.
