Netflix’s Last Samurai Standing trailer teases a brutal 19th-century survival game where 292 warriors fight to the death for glory and fortune.
Netflix has unveiled the main trailer and key art for Last Samurai Standing, an action-packed new Japanese series set to premiere November 13, 2025. Set in the late 19th century during Japan’s Meiji period, the series plunges viewers into a high-stakes survival game where honor, greed, and survival collide in spectacular fashion.
At the heart of the story is Shujiro Saga—portrayed by Junichi Okada—who, along with 291 other warriors, is drawn to Kyoto’s Tenryuji Temple by the promise of a massive cash prize. Each participant wears a single wooden tag and must steal those of their rivals to advance. Their ultimate goal: make it to Tokyo and claim victory before anyone else does. But with hundreds of skilled fighters battling through the night, only one will survive this ruthless contest.
The chaos begins at nightfall, when the temple becomes the arena for an all-out war of strategy and strength. What follows is an epic melee that pushes every warrior to their limits. The large-scale action sequences were filmed over multiple days and involved more than 1,000 cast and crew members, a testament to the scope and ambition behind the production.
Producer and star Junichi Okada, working alongside director Michihito Fujii, set out to redefine what’s possible in Japanese television action. Together, they fused modern CG technology with practical effects to create battles that feel both cinematic and visceral, immersing viewers in every strike and clash.
Netflix‘s Last Samurai Standing promises to be more than a period drama—it’s a full-scale survival epic where history meets high-intensity storytelling, and where every moment counts in the fight to be the last one standing.
You can watch Last Samurai Standing on November 13, 2025 only on Netflix.
