Netflix has revealed a first look and release date for Jo Nesbo’s Detective Hole, the upcoming crime drama inspired by the work of one of the most celebrated voices in crime fiction. The series will debut globally on Netflix on March 26, 2026.
Described as a gripping whodunnit serial killer mystery, Jo Nesbo’s Detective Hole centers on famed anti-hero Harry Hole, a brilliant yet deeply troubled homicide detective battling both criminals and his own inner demons. Beneath the surface of the investigation lies a layered character drama that explores the blurred lines between justice and revenge.
Over the course of the season, Harry finds himself locked in a dangerous battle with his longtime adversary, corrupt detective Tom Waaler. Though the two are supposed colleagues, they operate on opposite sides of the law, forcing Harry to confront ethical compromises as he races to stop a serial killer and bring Waaler to justice before it’s too late.
The series is created and written by Jo Nesbø, with Øystein Karlsen and Anna Zackrisson directing. Tor Arne Øvrebø serves as producer, while executive producers include Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Amelia Granger, Katy Rozelle, Rene Ezra, Øystein Karlsen, Jo Nesbø, and Niclas Salomonsson. The production comes from Working Title.
Jo Nesbo’s Detective Hole features an expansive ensemble cast led by Tobias Santelmann, Joel Kinnaman, Pia Tjelta, and Ellen Helinder. They are joined by a large supporting lineup including Anders Baasmo, Kåre Conradi, Simon J. Berger, Peter Stormare, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Anders Danielsen Lie, Ane Dahl Torp, Agnes Kittelsen, Kelly Gale, and many others.
With its themes of obsession, betrayal, and moral ambiguity, the series promises a tense and psychologically rich addition to Netflix’s crime drama slate when it arrives next spring.
