High Horse: Black Cowboy Doc Trailer & Premiere Date

Peacock has released the trailer for High Horse: The Black Cowboy, a powerful Jordan Peele-produced documentary celebrating the legacy of Black cowboy culture ahead of its November 20 premiere.

Peacock is shining a spotlight on a vital, often overlooked part of American history with its brand-new documentary series High Horse: The Black Cowboy. Executive produced by Jordan Peele and his Monkeypaw Productions team, the three-part documentary premieres Thursday, November 20, exclusively on Peacock, and debuts a new trailer and key art to mark the announcement.

High Horse: The Black Cowboy serves as both a cultural and historical exploration, setting out to reclaim the narrative of the Wild West by revealing the real stories of Black cowboys and cowgirls—figures who played a major role in shaping early America but were pushed to the margins of popular history. This series celebrates their powerful legacy, highlighting their influence on American identity, resilience, and western culture.

Jordan Peele shared his passion for the project, stating his gratitude to Monkeypaw Productions for helping uplift the voices and heritage of Black cowboy culture. “Their history is inseparable from the story of our country — and this project aims to honor and celebrate their lasting legacy,” Peele said.

Viewers can expect a blend of pop culture and historical storytelling throughout the series, featuring original interviews with a wide range of notable voices. Among those appearing are Jordan Peele, Bun B, Blanco Brown, Pam Grier, Lori Harvey, INK, Tina Knowles, Rick Ross, Glynn Turman, Lynae Vanee, and members of The Compton Cowboys. The series also features an original score by acclaimed artist Raphael Saadiq, adding to its emotional depth and authenticity.

The documentary is directed by Jason Perez and produced by Monkeypaw Productions and Universal Television Alternative Studio, a division of Universal Studio Group. Executive producers include Jordan Peele, Win Rosenfeld, Keisha Senter, Jamal Watson, Mari Keiko Gonzalez, Liz Yale Marsh, Kadine Anckle, Tom Casciato, Sacha Jenkins, and Keith McQuirter.

With its focus on legacy, identity, and representation, High Horse: The Black Cowboy promises to educate, inspire, and reshape how audiences view the American frontier.
