Hulu has shared the first look at the King of the Hill revival featuring an aged-up cast, nearly 30 years after the series first premiered.
The alleyway gang is back—and looking a little older. Hulu has released the first official key visual from its upcoming revival of King of the Hill, giving fans their first look at the aged-up cast from the beloved animated series. Shared via the show’s official social media account, the teaser image comes with the promise that the highly anticipated return is coming “soon.”

Originally premiering in 1997 on Fox, King of the Hill ran for 13 seasons and followed the lives of propane enthusiast Hank Hill, his substitute teacher wife Peggy, and their offbeat son Bobby, all residing in the fictional town of Arlen, Texas. The show captured everyday small-town life with a unique mix of heart, humor, and cultural commentary, quickly earning critical acclaim and an Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program. It was even named one of Time magazine’s “Greatest TV Shows of All Time” and has been broadcast in 50 countries around the world.
The upcoming reboot is set in the present day, nearly three decades after the original series began, and longtime fans will notice that the characters have aged with time. But despite the new wrinkles and gray hairs, the King of the Hill gang looks ready to deliver more of their trademark Texas charm.
The revival is being produced by original series creators Mike Judge and Greg Daniels, with Saladin Patterson on board as showrunner and executive producer. Judge also reprises his voice roles as Hank Hill and Boomhauer, alongside returning cast members Kathy Najimy (Peggy Hill), Stephen Root (Bill Dauterive), Pamela Adlon (Bobby Hill), and Lauren Tom (Minh and Connie Souphanousinphone).
Tragically, Johnny Hardwick, who voiced the iconic conspiracy theorist Dale Gribble and served as a writer and producer on the original series, passed away in August 2023. His return to the show had been announced just before his unexpected death, casting a bittersweet shadow over the revival.
The project, which has been in development for over six years, was officially picked up by Hulu in 2023 through sibling studio 20th Television Animation. Additional executive producers include Michael Rotenberg and Howard Klein of 3 Arts, along with Dustin Davis of Bandera Entertainment.
Fans won’t have to wait long for more. A special Reunion Panel and Sneak Peek screening is set to take place at the ATX TV Festival in Austin on May 30, offering an early glimpse at the show’s next chapter.
Get ready to return to Arlen—this time, with a few more laugh lines and a lot of nostalgia.
