Brie Bella says she’s ready to return to WWE but reveals that her husband Bryan Danielson’s ties to AEW may be holding things back.
Brie Bella is ready to step back into the WWE ring—there’s just one major obstacle standing in the way.
On a new solo episode of The Nikki & Brie Show, the former WWE superstar got candid about the lingering question fans and interviewers keep asking: When will she return to wrestling? While she’s often responded playfully with, “I’m still waiting for that call,” Brie now admits that line was more of a lighthearted deflection than a real update.
“There’s one question that I constantly get asked, and it is, ‘When will we see you back in the ring?’ As if I have that power,” she said. “So I have constantly made the joke, ‘Oh, waiting on the call.’ Which in some ways, can be true. And in some ways, I am just saying something cheeky and sweet so I can get on to the next question.”
But in this latest episode, Brie opened up about a deeper truth behind that answer: the real “roadblock” may be her husband, Bryan Danielson, and his current contract with AEW.
Brie explained that having her husband employed by a rival promotion might make some within WWE uncomfortable, and that could be stalling her potential return. “I know my roadblock is the fact that my husband is with the rival company,” she said. “For some people, it makes them uncomfortable at WWE, thinking I would be there while my husband is with AEW.”
Despite the tension, Brie said she understands and respects those feelings. “If people feel uncomfortable, they’re uncomfortable, and that’s ok. They have that right,” she shared. “Does it bum me out sometimes when I wish their feelings were different? Absolutely. But it doesn’t make me angry and it doesn’t make me bitter.”
Instead, Brie is choosing to interpret the situation as a sign to embrace where she is now, referring to it as her “soft girl era.” Whether that means her return is on hold indefinitely or just delayed, she’s staying grounded in the moment—even if she’s more than ready to lace up her boots again.
