ABTV Pop Country Talk Weekly

This week, Afterbuzz Pop Country Talk Hosts Ally Nasta, Candice Cruz, and Matt Marr are spilling the tea on what really happened with Morgan Wallen trashing Kid Rock’s Nashville bar. Also, Kip Moore is topping the charts with Red, White, Blue Jeans American Dream, Yola is the summer country soul we’ve all been waiting for and Chase Rice’s new Music Video for “Belong” reminds us all that we can chill.

Saturday, May 23rd, country star Morgan Wallen was arrested outside of Kid Rock’s bar in Nashville, Tnn. and charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

Sunday, Wallen tweeted out an apology, and apparently him and Kid Rock are all good and have no hard feelings between them.

“Hey y’all just wanted to clear the air. I went out downtown last night with a few old friends,” Wallen tweeted Sunday. “After a couple bar stops, we were horse-playing with each other. We didn’t mean any harm, and we want to say sorry to any bar staff or anyone that was affected.”

On Monday, Wallen followed up on his previous tweet with an image of Kid Rock and himself with the caption “Fresh Out.”

Our ‘New Artist Highlight’ this week was Yola, and we shared her top song “Faraway Look.” Yola has one of the most powerful, magical voices in music today. Her album Walk Through Fire garnered her three Grammy Award nominations this year including Best Americana Album, and her single Faraway Look got a nod for Best American Roots Song and Best American Roots Performance. She was also nominated for Best New Artist!

This past February, Variety announced she will be playing the role of singer Sister Rosetta Tharpe, the “Godmother of Rock and Roll”, in the untitled drama the life of Elvis Presley, directed by Baz Luhrmann

This week’s three top releases on iTunes were:

3). One of Them GirlsLee Bryce (same as last week)

2.) Beer Can’t FixThomas Rhett feat. Jon Pardi

1.) Red White Blue Jean American DreamKip Moore

In our special segment “Yesterday/Today/Tomorrow” we talked all things Alan Jackson. The Top New Vocalist of 1990 is now making waves during the COVID-19 pandemic for his innovative concerts. Jackson will be performing a drive-in concert in his home state of Alabama on June 5th and 6th. Tickets are on sale now and a portion of the proceeds will go towards “food relief efforts in the respective regions.”

Surprisingly, there is not a lot happening in the world of country stars’ social media. The Grand Ole Opry shared posts of a special Memorial Day concert held in the infamous space, and Morgan Evans shared his own sentimental post of his performance with Keith Urban on the Grand Ole Opry stage.

Chase Rice released the music video to his song “Belong” this past week with a beautiful caption reading:

“I’ve heard so many times ‘2020 sucks’ and ‘2021’ can’t get here fast enough. I know for me, I can’t do a damn thing to make 2021 come any faster. I’ve sat around dinner tables again, drank around fires, gotten back in touch with friends I haven’t talked to in years, made new ones. I’m very sorry for those lost, but I’m also very grateful for the positives that have come out of this year. As far as I’m concerned it’s the furthest thing from a wasted year. I believe we’re right where we belong, and I think this song and this video featuring y’all, tells the story perfectly. Love yall👏🏼”
