It seems like fans just can’t get enough of The Challenge, because MTV officially announced the long running reality show will be coming back for its 36th season.

The Challenge premiered over two decades ago back in 1998. Since then each season has given fans a unique theme with special twists that keeps us wanting more.

As of now we don’t have an official date on when filming starts, nor do we know what the theme will be, but showrunner Emer Harkin spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the possibility of the red skull twist coming back next season.

“There’s always things that we could do to take it to the next level, and things that I don’t want to get into too much because I don’t want to give away too many spoilers for season 36. Explained Harkin. “We got a lot of input from fans and T.J. Lavin himself about how we can reimagine the red skull and how we can escalate and just even kick it up another notch.”

This tea got us thinking about  possible themes The Challenge can incorporate into next season, so here are the top 4 themes that fans would love to see on Season 36.

The Challenge: Entanglements

Yes, this is a spoof on when Jada Pinket Smith revealed she was in a relationship with another man while separated from Will Smith.

Challenge Vet Wes Bergmann jokingly tweeted about the idea, and fans loved it.

This wouldn’t be the first time we see love triangles partner up on the show and go head to head against other love triangles.

Can you imagine Leroy, Kam, and Theo or Cara, Paulie, and Kyle on the same team trying to win that money? There would be awkwardness, drama, and amazing TV moments. Ratings Gold MTV… Ratings Gold.

The Challenge: Battle Of The Allies

This idea  comes from our very own AfterBuzzer  Dan Lindgren.

For years we’ve seen some of the best friendships come out of The Challenge. From Cory and Nelson, Rogan and Joss  to Jenna and Nany.

Seeing these allies paired up together going head to head against other allies would be a fresh take on The Show.

Fans would see these friendships get put to the test and watch how well these Challengers can keep their friendships alive, all while dealing with the political aspect of the game and working together to win the cash prize.

Battle Of The Sexes III

By Far Battle Of The Sexes 1 and 2 is an old school fan favorite, and for years many fans have been wanting this theme to make a comeback for a third time around.

Battle Of The Sexes 2 premiered in 2004, and a lot has changed with the Challenge since then.

For instance castmates on both seasons of Battle Of The Sexes did not have to battle it out to determine who gets sent home, instead they were simply voted off.

This new Challenge era could bring back some tough competitors into the game like Cara Maria, Tori, and Laurel going against Jay, Hunter, and Fessy.

Old School vs. Middle School vs New School

Back in 2008, during its 15th season fans were introduced to the Gauntlet III, where veteran players were pitted up against rookie players.

The Challenge has been on the air for so long now that there really isn’t  a clear divide of old school versus new school players, so fans started asking for an Old School vs. Middle School vs New School season.

From the Old School Cast you would have castmates like Coral, Abraham, and Darrell. Middle School would be Tony, Ashley M, and Devin. New school would see the likes of Melissa, Turbo, and Jay.

These three teams would battle it out to find out once and for all who is the best, old school, middle school, or new school?

We have to note fan favorite Mark Long is making part of our dreams come true by  pitching an idea of a 2 Week Old School Challenge to networks.

There are many more themes that fans would love to see come to light on The Challenge. Which one of these themes is your fave?
