With a galaxy’s worth of shows set for Disney+, Star Wars fans will have their schedules full for quite a while. From bounty hunters to Jedi warriors, here are just a few of the shows expected to be released on Disney+ in the near future.

Kenobi

Ewan McGregor’s much-anticipated return to Star Wars is nearly upon us with filming currently underway and fans are excited to hear any details about what’s in store for the legendary jedi. From what has been released from Lucasfilm and Ewan McGregor himself, the show is expected to center around an older Obi-Wan Kenobi, spending years on the planet Tatooine and protecting a young Luke Skywalker from enemies.

In addition to Ewan McGregor’s return to the Star Wars universe, fans are beyond excited to see the return of Hayden Christensen, known for his role as Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, as Darth Vader. With both actors’ returning to their iconic characters it can be expected that there will be a confrontation and conflict of grandiose scale between these two juggernauts within the Star Wars universe. Hopefully this will tie in past, present and future within the scope of this highly anticipated show.

Filming is currently underway with few details being revealed but, as time goes on, we can expect more to be revealed about what’s in store for the legendary Obi-Wan Kenobi. Ewan McGregor has teased his excitement for filming and the opportunity to reprise his iconic role, and fans can hardly wait until 2022.

Book of Boba Fett

Another highly anticipated outing within the Star Wars franchise is ‘The Book of Boba Fett,’ starring Temuera Morrison and Ming-Na Wen as Boba Fett and Fennec Shand respectively. With both characters being featured in shows like The Mandalorian and The Bad Batch, it’ll be a good change of pace to have such popular characters in the spotlight and develop their stories even further.

With production finishing mere days ago, The Book of Boba Fett is expected to focus on the fan-favorite bounty hunter’s return to notoriety within the Star Wars universe, being assisted by Fennec Shand along the way. Although the show is meant to act as  The Mandalorian Season 2.5,”  it is unknown if the events and characters prominently featured in Disney’s insanely popular TV show will take center stage in Boba Fett’s well-deserved spin-off.

Until more details are out on what’s in store for the uber-popular bounty hunter, fans can only expect a thrilling tale filled with action and adventure.

The Mandalorian – Season 3

Considered one of Dinsey+’s most successful shows, The Mandlorian, starring Pedro Pascal, has another season set to film down the road (hardly a surprise given the critical and financial success of the previous 2 seasons), with the events in store for Din Djarin, bounty hunter and follower of the Mandalorian creed, currently a complete mystery.

With production of the show still a ways off, most likely due to actor Pedro Pascal’s role in HBO’s The Last of Us TV show creating scheduling conflicts, the plot of the highly-anticipated third season is completely up in the air for theories and speculation until cameras start rolling.

Unfortunately,  details on the show, as well as the release date, are not likely to be revealed for a while. Until then, fans wait excitedly for the return of Din Djarin and his adventures throughout the galaxy.

Visions

Certainly one of Lucasfilm’s most interesting series coming to Disney+, Visions is an upcoming animated anthology series shown through the lens of the world’s best anime creators. This series consists of ten animated short films that provides an entirely new perspective to the Star Wars franchise, as well as celebrates the Star Wars galaxy in a completely new way.

With each episode entirely standalone, fans are excited to see what these uber-talented creators can do within a universe of endless possibility. I cannot wait to see what’s planned in Visions, coming to Disney+ later this year.

Ahsoka

After Rosario Dawson’s live-action portrayal of Ahsoka Tano in The Mandalorian, fans would be shocked if Lucasfilm and Disney didn’t plan a series centered around her character at some point. It seems that the Ahsoka series is underway and expected to be on Disney+ in the near future, despite no official release date being revealed yet.

With her appearance in season 2 of The Mandalorian setting up her potential journey into the future of Star Wars, fans are expecting the long-awaited series to focus on her search for Grand Admiral Thrawn, a rival of Ahsoka Tano and a legend within the Star Wars universe. In addition, her journey to find Thrawn may lead her to Ezra Bridger, a character featured prominently in Star Wars: Rebels and who is rumored to be an important character in the upcoming Ahsoka series.

Although there is no specific release date for Ahsoka yet, fans can expect to see the legendary character return to Disney+ soon, possibly late 2021.

The Acolyte

In all honesty, this is the show I’m personally the most excited for. The Acolyte is a show centered around the Sith mythos within the Star Wars universe during the High Republic era. This makes it the first on-screen Star Wars media to focus on that time within the galaxy. The Acolyte is being pitched as a female-centric, mystery-thriller series with little information released beyond that.

With director and writer Leslye Headland (Russian Doll) attached to the project, fans can expect an exciting thrill ride whenever production is able to begin.

Andor

With the success of 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, there was little doubt that the stories set up within the film would not be expanded upon in the future. Andor is a prequel series focused on Cassian Andor, played by Diego Luna (Narcos: Mexico, Y Tu Mama Tambien), and his time working for the Rebellion before the events of Rogue One

Another exciting aspect of Andor is the return such as Forrest Whitaker reprising his role as Saw Gerrera and Ben Mendelsohn potentially returning as Imperial Director Krennic. This has lead many to speculate about the relationships and interactions these characters had prior to their connected 2016 film.

With filming currently underway, fans of Cassian Andor can expect to see his early adventures as soon as 2022.

Rangers of the New Republic (TBD)

Rangers of the New Republic is an upcoming show that’s certainly had a rollercoaster of a development process so far. With the firing of Gina Carano and the prioritization of other projects, the show has been pushed so far back it is considered “no longer in active development.” However, this does not mean the show is cancelled, and fans can still potentially see the show in the near future. Albeit with a different lead than Cara Dune, the supporting character in The Mandalorian played by Gina Carano until her termination from Disney.

It certainly will be interesting following the development of Rangers of the New Republic and seeing if fans will be able to see this series on Disney+ some day in the future.

Which series are you most excited for?
