With the cancelation of High Fidelity and the announcement of A League of Their Own…there has been a growing trend of rebooting movies into TV shows. This has been done before, but it has been especially prevalent in this past decade. With that, here are the five best shows based on movies.

Number Five: What We Do In The Shadows

The show is based on the hit 2014 mockumentary of the same name about three vampires, written and directed by Flight of The Conchords member Jemaine Clement and Academy Award winning filmmaker Taika Waititi. The show follows three vampires living in Staten Island and was just nominated for nine Emmys, including Best Comedy Series.

Based on the 2014 film of the same name, Dear White People is about the lives of African American students at predominantly white Ivy League school. Created by the film’s writer/director Justim Simien, Dear White People is a show that focuses on race relations currently happening in America.

Number Three: Friday Night Lights

Friday Night Lights is a show that follows Texas’s best high school football team, the Dillion Panthers and their new head coach Eric Taylor. The show was a great drama that won three Emmys, including Best Actor in a Drama Series for Kyle Chandler.

Number Two: Westworld

Based on the 1973 film of the same name, Westworld is about an interactive Wild-West theme park where everything isn’t exactly as it seems. The show features great performances, especially from Evan Rachel Wood, Thandie Newton, and Jeffrey Wright.

Number One: Fargo

Based on the Academy Award winning 1996 film, the show takes from Coen Brothers classic, and expands it. Full of deceit, intrigue, and murder…Fargo is one of the best anthology shows currently on TV. The show has won several Emmys, including Best Mini-Series for its first season. The fourth season is set to premiere on September 27, and will star Chris Rock.
