Since wrapping the final season of How To Get Away With Murder and the upcoming fifth season of The Expanse, actor Cas Anvar has been doing lots of exciting and important things in quarantine.

Cas fostered and is now in the process of adopting a rescue pup, and he shared how he’s loving the quality time he’s gotten with his new best friend. He’s also been using quarantine to look introspectively and really analyze all that’s been happening with the world.

Most notably and recently, Cas has been taking steps to educate himself and become an ally to the Black Lives Matter movement. He’s using his platform to educate his fans and encourage them to get involved as well.

“I took literally three weeks to educate myself. I clearly didn’t know what the systemic racism that Blacks in America have been dealing with. I thought I knew, and I was really wrong.”

The Expanse star even discussed how he did lots of research and cited Netflix’s 13th as an eye opener to these issues. He also shared his thoughts on the silver lining of quarantine, which is that it allowed us to focus on these real issues and empathize with each other’s struggles.

“Because of the situation we’re in where we don’t have millions of distractions, we’re actually able to human a little bit better. We’re actually able to be more empathic, we’re able to be a little bit more compassionate. And so there’s a whole wave of stuff that’s happening now, I think because it’s supposed to happen.”

While Cas has been doing his best to educate himself and in turn educate his fans with his weekly IG live streams called “CasChats,” he also mentioned that there is still an insurmountable amount of work left to be done for this movement and to achieve true justice and equality.

“I will say that there’s been a lot of progress made in a short period of time. There’s a lot of legislation and things happening that are very positive, but it’s not done. There’s a long road ahead.”

If you want to join Cas on this road and keep up with what he’s doing in quarantine, be sure you’re following him on all social media platforms @casanvar, and be on the lookout for the premiere of season five of The Expanse coming soon to Prime.

You can also catch Cas on the last season of How To Get Away With Murder, where he plays the boyfriend of Hollywood legend Viola Davis, and you can also catch his full interview for AfterBuzz TV’s Quarantine With The Stars.
