Terry Crews Has NO REGRETS Over Failed Little Mermaid Campaign
EXCLUSIVE – Terry Crews is quoting Wayne Gretzky when it comes to his failed The Little Mermaid Twitter campaign.
Gretzky famously said, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.”
Crews publicly campaigned on Twitter to play King Triton, posting a picture of himself photoshopped into The Little Mermaid kingdom. He captioned the photo, “Ariel’s Dad!!!!” and included a mermaid emoji and the hashtag #ArielsGotTerry.
Unfortunately for Crews, rumors have connected Javier Bardem to the role.
“You know, the Triton thing’s over. Javier Bardem, I mean, he’s the man,” conceded Crews when talking with Black Hollywood Live’s Drew Jones at San Diego Comic-Con.
However, don’t think that Crews has any regrets.
“It’s just like running for president. It doesn’t hurt you. All of a sudden, you know, nobody looks at you like you went for it and didn’t get it,” said Crews, adding “I went for it, I, I shot my shot. Okay, I jumped in the ring.”
Crews did tell BHL he was open to other parts, when pitched Flouder. But he’s moved on to promoting his Brooklyn Nine-Nine costar Joe Lo Truglio for Sebastian, Ariel’s crab friend.
“I’d play Sebastian! I’d be all over that!” exclaimed Lo Truglio when pitched the idea.
“That’s a great one! Put some claws on, man,” encouraged Crews.
The casting is still ongoing for several The Little Mermaid roles so there’s a chance both Crews and Lo Truglio make it in. Let’s cross our fingers!
